Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife will arrive in Vietnam today, beginning a visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will visit Vietnam on July 20-21 and is expected to hold talks and meetings with Vietnamese leaders as well as witness the signing of documents between the two countries. This is Prime Minister Ibrahim's first official visit to Vietnam since he took office in December 2022.

Vietnam and Malaysia established diplomatic relations in 1973 and became Strategic Partners in 2015.
Malaysia is Vietnam's second largest trading partner in ASEAN and ninth largest in the world. Trade turnover between the two countries is expected to reach US$14.8 billion in 2022, up 17.9% compared to 2021, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Receiving Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai on April 7, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the friendship and strategic partnership with Malaysia, expressing his wish that the two countries strive to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 18 billion USD or higher by 2025.
Malaysia is among the 10 countries with the largest investments in Vietnam, with 718 valid projects and a total registered capital of 13 billion USD. Vietnam has 24 investment projects in Malaysia with a total registered capital of nearly 860 million USD.
