Average income of workers 7.1 million VND
According to the General Statistics Office, in the third quarter, the average monthly income of workers was 7.1 million VND, an increase of 146,000 VND compared to the second quarter.
The labor market has recorded a strong recovery, and workers' lives have improved significantly.
Compared to the same period last year, in the third quarter of this year, the average income of workers increased in all socio-economic regions of the country, of which the Red River Delta had the highest growth rate.
In this quarter, the average monthly income of workers in the Red River Delta was VND8.4 million, up 6.1% (equivalent to an increase of VND485,000) over the same period last year.

In addition, the average monthly income of workers in Thai Nguyen province was 7.3 million VND, an increase of 15.6% (equivalent to an increase of 979,000 VND); in Hanoi city it was 9.9 million VND, an increase of 9.7% (equivalent to an increase of 873,000 VND). In Bac Ninh alone, the average monthly income of workers decreased by 3.8% (equivalent to a decrease of 328,000 VND).
The average monthly income of workers in the Southeast region is 8.8 million VND, of which the average income of workers in Ho Chi Minh City is 9.3 million VND, an increase of 0.6% (an increase of 56,000 VND) compared to the same period last year.
Compared to the same period last year, the average monthly income of workers in the third quarter in all three economic sectors increased; of which, the service sector recorded the highest growth rate.
Employment increased
Also in the third quarter, the labor force aged 15 and over was 52.4 million people, an increase of nearly 100,000 people compared to the previous quarter and more than 500,000 people compared to the same period last year.
51.3 million workers have jobs, an increase of 87,400 people compared to the second quarter. In the first 9 months of the year, the number of workers aged 15 and over with jobs reached 51.2 million people.
Notably, the third quarter recorded a slight recovery in labor in the industrial and construction sectors after a decline due to the impact of a lack of orders in the textile, garment, footwear, wood processing and electronics industries.

In addition, the number of workers in the manufacturing and processing industry has shown signs of recovery. On the contrary, the number of workers in the wood processing and wood product manufacturing industry decreased by 7,900 people.
According to a quick report from localities, the number of workers laid off by enterprises nationwide in the third quarter was about 54,200, down 187,300 compared to the previous quarter. The majority of workers laid off were mainly in the leather, footwear and textile industries.
Besides, the number of unemployed workers was 118,400 people, down 99,400 people compared to the previous quarter.
In particular, the majority of workers are in the textile and footwear industries, mainly in two provinces in the Southeast region: Binh Duong (about 33,600 people) and Ho Chi Minh City (about 34,600 people).
