Phuong Khai Minh scored 10 points in Math and English, 9.5 in Literature, becoming the valedictorian of the 10th grade public exam in Hanoi.
On the evening of June 30, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the 10th grade entrance exam scores of more than 104,000 candidates. Phuong Khai Minh, a student at Nghia Tan Secondary School in Cau Giay District, scored 9.5 in Literature, 10 in Math and English. According to the admission score calculation formula, Minh scored 49/50 points, an average of 9.8 points per subject.
Last year's valedictorian was Vu Hoang Khanh Uyen, from the secondary school system at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, with 48.5 points. The female student scored 9.25 in Literature, 10 in Foreign Language and Math.

Three weeks ago, more than 104,000 students in Hanoi took three exams in Literature, Foreign Language and Mathematics to be admitted to public 10th grade (mass). With a quota of about 72,000, the admission rate was 66.5%.
The admission score is the sum of the Literature and Math scores multiplied by a factor of two, along with the Foreign Language score and priority points (if any). Students applying to specialized schools must take additional specialized subject tests, so the admission score for specialized grade 10 is the sum of the three Math, Literature, Foreign Language tests and the specialized subject score multiplied by a factor of two.
This year's Math, Literature, and Foreign Language exams for Hanoi's 10th grade entrance exam are considered familiar by many teachers, maintaining a stable structure and not being more difficult than last year, so the average score for each subject is around 7-7.5. The benchmark score is predicted to increase slightly, from 1 to 1.25 points.
Tomorrow, the Department will meet with principals of more than 110 high schools to discuss the 10th grade benchmark, a week ahead of schedule. If admitted, candidates will enroll online. From July 18, schools that do not meet their enrollment quota will begin to consider additional enrollment.
