After quite a long time - a full decade since The Wind Rises (2013), Vietnamese audiences have the opportunity to enjoy the next work of legendary Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, The Boy and the Heron . The film was released in Vietnamese theaters a week before its release in the North American market.
The Boy and the Heron is described as Hayao Miyazaki's "major work of fiction." Inspired by Genzaburo Yoshino's 1937 novel How Do You Live?, the film follows the colorful journey of a boy named Mahito Maki inside an abandoned tower with a talking heron. The soundtrack is again composed by veteran composer Joe Hisaishi, a close collaborator of Hayao Miyazaki's across many works.
After a decade of not releasing a new work, Hayao Miyazaki continues to touch the theme of war and the changes in people's lives in the post-war period. After making a splash in Japan, this Ghibli blockbuster is awaited by Vietnamese audiences. On CGV's official Facebook page, the news that the film will be shown in Vietnam has made fans express their excitement.
