Candidate with broken right arm still completes 10th grade entrance exam

On June 10 and 11, the 10th grade entrance exam took place in Vinh Phuc. According to the Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training, during the exam, a candidate broke his right arm (his dominant arm), but he completed all 3 exams well thanks to the support of the invigilators.

Despite a broken arm, with the support of the examination board, Vu The Duyet completed the 10th grade entrance exam in Vinh Phuc.

That is Vu The Duyet, a candidate at the Le Xoay High School exam site. Duyet broke his right arm a day before the exam, so he and his family were very worried. When reporting to the school, Duyet was encouraged by his teachers to take the exam. The Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training also issued a document instructing and supporting candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam, in cases of accidents and being unable to copy the test by themselves. Accordingly, Duyet was arranged a separate exam room with a surveillance camera, 2 invigilators, and 1 medical staff to support.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, who was assigned to be the first supervisor and directly copied the test papers for Duyet during the morning exam on June 10, said: "I have been doing this job for many years and have encountered many unusual situations of candidates, but this is the first time I have been assigned to copy the test papers for a student. I see that Duyet has reviewed and prepared her knowledge quite thoroughly, she is very calm and completed the test papers within the prescribed time."

For the test and multiple choice test (combined test on the afternoon of June 10, math on the morning of June 11), Duyệt was assisted by the supervisor in writing down general information on the test. After that, she had to fill in her own options.

According to the Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training, in addition to Vu The Duyet, this year's 10th grade entrance exam in Vinh Phuc also had a candidate who broke his leg before the exam at the Tam Duong 2 High School Examination Council; a student broke his right thumb. The students and their families all submitted a commitment letter and the Department of Education and Training and the heads of the examination sites arranged convenient examination rooms on the first floor or had a plan to support the copying of the candidates' exam papers in math and literature.

In Vinh Phuc this year, there are 17,555 candidates registering for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year and 145 students taking the entrance exam. The Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training organized 748 exam rooms at 33 exam locations (29 exam councils), mobilizing nearly 2,000 officials, teachers, and employees to participate in the exam.
