Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang requested investors and project enterprises to direct contractors to concentrate maximum human resources and machinery, working through the Lunar New Year to ensure the progress of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway project connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh.
Continuing his working trip to Ha Tinh, on the afternoon of January 21, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang and his delegation inspected the construction progress of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot component project of the North - South Eastern Expressway project in the 2017 - 2020 period. Reporting to the working delegation of the Ministry of Transport, a representative of Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company (project enterprise) said: Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway is 49.3 km long (44.4 km through Nghe An and 4.9 km through Ha Tinh), is one of three component projects of the North - South Expressway in the East implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.
The project has a total investment of VND 11,157 billion with 5 construction packages, started in May 2021, and is scheduled to be completed in May 2024.
Hung Duc Bridge is one of the important items of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway project. Up to now, 90% of the volume has been completed and is expected to be closed in May 2024.
At this time, contractors mobilized 101/103 construction teams with nearly 2,000 engineers, workers, hundreds of machines and equipment to work simultaneously. As of January 21, the output was 5,897 billion VND, reaching 68.6% of the contract value.
Despite great efforts, for many reasons, the progress of some critical items of the project (soft soil treatment, Than Vu tunnel and many bridges and intersections) has not been as expected. Up to now, the project is still 1.7% behind schedule.
Along with that, the project site clearance work in Nghe An province still has some problems.
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang requested to speed up the progress of Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway.
Through on-site inspection and listening to reports from units, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang said: The Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway section plays an important role in connecting Hanoi to Nghe An and Ha Tinh, but in the past, the project has repeatedly failed to ensure progress according to the plan.
There is not much time left to complete the project, the Minister of Transport requested the investor to direct the project enterprise, contractors, and supervision consultants to focus maximum human resources and construction machinery in "3 shifts, 4 teams", taking advantage of every day and every hour to speed up the progress, even needing to work through the Lunar New Year to ensure progress.
The delay in the Dien Chau – Bai Vot expressway not only affects the overall progress of the North – South expressway project but also affects the interests of investors, because this is a toll project.
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang and leaders of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces presented gifts to encourage workers constructing the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway project.
During the construction process, investors, project enterprises and contractors need to regularly exchange information with local authorities of Nghe An and Ha Tinh to resolve difficulties and problems that arise, contributing to the smooth implementation of the project.
The Minister of Transport also requested Nghe An province to promptly resolve problems and hand over 100% of the site to the investor.
On this occasion, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang and the delegation offered incense at the special national historical site of Dong Loc T-junction, Can Loc district.
