The total value of products in Gia Nghia City in 2024 is estimated at 7,157 billion VND, an increase of 9.8% compared to 2023. This is an impressive growth rate, reflecting the strong recovery and development of the economy. This growth mainly comes from the industrial, construction and service sectors.
The industrial and construction sector continues to be an important pillar of Gia Nghia's economy. The total product value of this sector is estimated at over VND 3,355 billion, an increase of 13.9% compared to 2023. Of which, the industrial sector contributes a significant part with VND 1,116 billion, an increase of 9.87% compared to the previous year.
The agricultural and forestry processing industry, mineral exploitation and renewable energy such as solar power and hydropower continue to develop strongly, contributing to the sustainable development foundation of the young city.
The service sector is impressive with an estimated growth figure of VND 2,890 billion, up 7.38% compared to 2023. Trade, especially the retail sector, grew strongly, with a total product value of VND 1,361 billion, up 11.5%.
In addition, tourism services are developing strongly with eco-tourism models, combined with agricultural production, creating attractive destinations for tourists. Accommodation and food service establishments have also been improved, contributing to improving the quality of local tourism services.
Gia Nghia City currently has about 5,310 operating production and business establishments, including 756 enterprises, creating a large workforce of over 17,150 people.
The strong development of this area not only contributes to economic growth but also creates thousands of new jobs for people, increases income levels and improves quality of life.
In addition, the agricultural processing industry has also made remarkable progress. Products such as coffee, rubber latex, tap water, electricity, etc. all have significant output growth, contributing to the city's exports and sustainable development.
Gia Nghia develops OCOP products, with 26 products achieving 3 and 4 stars, contributing to enhancing the value of local agricultural products and brands.
33 targets achieved and exceeded the plan
In 2024, the Resolution of the People's Council of Gia Nghia City assigned 12 groups of targets on economy, society, national defense, and security, with 34 specific targets. In 2024, Gia Nghia City achieved and exceeded 33 targets, 1 target was not achieved.
The achieved and exceeded targets include: Dak Nia commune is estimated to achieve 19/19 criteria, Dak R'moan commune is estimated to achieve 18/19 criteria according to the set of criteria for advanced new rural communes in the period 2021-2025.
Forest coverage rate reached 6.74%; land use rights settlement reached 95.6%. The rate of asphalted and concreted roads in the whole city reached 76.77%; the rate of asphalted and concreted rural roads reached 67.72%. The rate of urban waste collection reached 96%, the urbanization rate was 78%; 88% of the area needed irrigation.
Creating jobs for 2,990 workers; providing vocational training for 616 workers, the rate of trained workers is 80%, the rate of people of working age participating in social insurance is 44.9%. The poverty rate is 0.26% (Resolution assigns below 0.4%).
The rate of wards and communes meeting national health standards reached 75%; the rate of population participating in health insurance reached 94.2%; the expanded vaccination rate for children under 1 year old reached 95.3%; the natural population growth rate was 1.12%, and the rate of stunted children under 5 years old was reduced to 22.5%.
Gia Nghia City has 23/30 schools meeting national standards. The rate of cultural families is 95%; 5/6 civilized urban wards; the rate of cultural villages, hamlets, and residential groups is 91%; and cultural units reach 95%.
The 100% achievement rates include: urban roads are asphalted and concreted; main streets are lit; population uses clean water; villages and hamlets have national grid electricity; the percentage of households using electricity, and the street system has trees. Gia Nghia City ensures to maintain political security and social order and safety in the area.
In 2024, Gia Nghia City has only one target, which is the total state budget revenue that has not been achieved. The total state budget revenue in 2024 is estimated at 1,131,683 billion VND (The City People's Council Resolution assigned 1,532.5 billion VND).
Mr. Do Tan Suong, Chairman of Gia Nghia City People's Committee shared: “To achieve outstanding results in 2024, Gia Nghia City has promoted the disbursement of public investment capital, thereby activating and attracting social resources into key production sectors. The city has increased the attraction of non-budgetary investment, collected state budget revenue and promoted site clearance programs to implement important works and projects”.
The outstanding issues related to compensation, site clearance and bauxite planning were also resolved promptly, facilitating the implementation of major projects. The city strengthened natural disaster prevention; ensured social security, national defense, security and social order and safety.
With the achievements in 2024, Gia Nghia is affirming itself as a "bright spot" in the economic and social development of Dak Nong. The city has been making solid steps to build a prosperous, green and sustainable community, aiming for comprehensive development in the period of 2021-2025.
