At the Vung Ang - Bung project, the section passing through Bo Trach and Quang Trach districts in Quang Binh province, the atmosphere at the construction site has been bustling since the first days of the new year.
Convoys of trucks diligently rolled up the soil that had just been dumped by trucks. Nearby, a long line of trucks carrying materials lined up to deliver goods to the construction site.
Road roller driver Nguyen Truong Tam (36 years old, from Phu Tho) said that his road roller team of 8 people belongs to Phuong Thanh Construction Company, the unit that is constructing package XL 02 of the Vung Ang - Bung project.
According to Mr. Tam, this year's Tet, the unit's leaders still arranged for 50% of the staff, workers, and machine operators to stay at the construction site to work through Tet.
"For us - the transport workers, celebrating Tet at the construction site is very normal.
On the night of the 30th of Tet, the company leaders organized a New Year's Eve party for the employees at the camps. Each officer and worker received lucky money from the company to encourage their spirit.
In addition, the brothers who stay at the construction site before and after Tet all have higher salaries and bonuses..." - Mr. Tam informed.
Among the 18 km of main route that Phuong Thanh is undertaking construction, there are some locations with weak ground waiting to be loaded. At these locations, the construction unit is prioritizing the concentration of many engineers and construction teams to examine and assess the settlement.
After checking the weak ground locations to ensure safety, the construction teams can proceed with other stages.
Up to now, many locations that have been dealing with weak soil have constructed the road surface foundation; some locations are in the process of waiting for loading. It is expected that the loading will be reduced by March 2025.
At the Gianh River bridge project - an important item in the Vung Ang - Bung package, contractor Phuong Thanh is currently paving the bridge surface with asphalt concrete.
The bridge is 2.8km long and is the largest bridge on the highway section passing through Quang Binh province.
Similarly, at construction sites to lower high hills such as the hill at Km 613, the hill at Km 614, the hill 616... a series of large excavators grabbed large blocks of earth and rock and loaded them onto trucks to transport to the disposal site.
At these locations, the contractor has completed the road surface foundation to prepare for the asphalt concrete paving stage.
"The work of "cutting" the hills here is very difficult because it is far from residential areas and lacks phone signal, but at this point the workload is not much. It is expected that in a few days the road surface will be paved" - worker Tran Van Tuan shared.
As someone who has been closely following the project since it started, engineer Tran Hai Dang - Phuong Thanh Company shared that this is the second Tet holiday that he and his colleagues have stayed at the construction site to work through Tet.
During Tet, engineers and workers cannot return home to reunite with their families, so the company's leaders require that the construction site workers be organized to celebrate Tet as thoroughly as possible.
"Although the remaining volume of work undertaken by the unit is not much, we are still required to stay at the construction site to work through Tet.
Up to now, out of 18km, the unit has paved 10km; along with that, the system of signal booms has been installed. The output has reached 82% equivalent to about 3,600 billion VND, exceeding the contract progress by 2%" engineer Dang informed.
The representative of Project Management Board 6 (project investor) informed: In package XL 01, the main items such as Deo But tunnel, the contractor is completing the items to ensure traffic safety, many large bridges will also be closed in 2024 and are waiting for asphalt paving; in package XL 02, the main expressway route is basically open from beginning to end, the contractor is completing the items to ensure traffic safety, protective fences....
Maintain 3 shifts, 4 shifts
Similarly, at the construction site of the expressway project through Ha Tinh in the first days of the new year At Ty 2025.
Although many parts of the work have been completed and exceeded the set schedule, contractors still let workers work in "3 shifts"; hundreds of workers, engineers, and equipment are still working hard on the main items.
Engineer Nguyen Cong, Commander of Vinaconex Company constructing Bai Vot - Ham Nghi package, said that following the direction of the Prime Minister, from the very first days of approaching the project, the contractor planned to work in 3 shifts.
Up to now, when the work is basic, we still arrange staff to stay at the construction site to work during Tet.
According to Vinaconex leaders, up to this point, the unit's output has reached 75% of the contract value, equivalent to 1,965 billion out of a total of 2,670 billion VND.
"We aim to complete the main route by April 30, 2025 as committed to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport," said a Vinaconex leader.
According to engineer Cong, at this time, Ha Tinh has quite a lot of rain, many tasks such as treating weak ground and paving asphalt concrete are a bit behind schedule.
In return, we are flexible in working overtime, taking advantage of the clear weather to do other jobs such as installing guardrails, extending signs, etc.
According to the Thang Long Project Management Board - the project investor, up to this point, the project has achieved an output value of over 80%, of which the roadbed is basically completed, the bridge, culvert, and underpass system is 100% completed; asphalt concrete has reached over 60%...
