North Korea's state television said the country had successfully test-fired a new ballistic missile, the Hwasong-19. Pyongyang called it "the world's most powerful strategic missile" that can penetrate any enemy defense.

According to KCNA, the missile reached a maximum altitude of 7,687.5 km, flew 1,001.2 km in 1 hour 25 minutes 56 seconds, before falling into the designated location in the sea east of the Korean Peninsula.
