In 2023, the collective leadership of the Department of Transport and all officers and employees in the industry united, promoted tradition, took advantage of favorable conditions, strived to overcome difficulties, and successfully completed assigned tasks.
During the year, the Department of Transport completed the research dossier, proposed the establishment of a detailed plan for the development of the land and water areas of Ha Tinh seaports in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, sent to the Vietnam Maritime Administration for consideration, completed and submitted to the Ministry of Transport for approval; took the lead in implementing the tasks assigned by the province related to the Ha Tinh airport planning and investment project.
Preside over the preparation of reports proposing investment policies for the projects: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Road extended to the East, repairing Ba Nam Bridge, repairing landslides on the banks of Ngan Truoi River through Quang Tho Commune, Vu Quang District; urge and direct Cam Xuyen and Huong Son districts to speed up site clearance for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 8C, Thien Cam - National Highway 1 section and National Highway 8 - Ho Chi Minh Road section.
The Department actively coordinates with investors, departments, branches and localities to implement relevant procedures for the North-South Expressway project. Up to now, the site clearance and site clearance work has reached 100%; the price setting and approval of compensation plans has reached 99.52%; the handover of clean sites to construction units has reached 98.33%, and the disbursement of site clearance capital of 2,351.72/2,791.54 billion VND has reached 84.24%.

The Department also focuses on directing and urging units to resolutely carry out regular management and maintenance work on roads and inland waterways; strengthen inspection of the implementation of transportation plans to serve people's travel during peak holidays and Tet in the year.

In 2024, the Department of Transport will promote the reform of administrative procedures to ensure speed, accuracy and efficiency, enhance the effective implementation of online public services; and strengthen measures to reduce overloaded vehicles and violations of traffic safety and order.
