Attending the training were Tran Van Dat, Director of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs (Ministry of Education and Training); representatives of relevant Departments and Divisions under the Ministry of Education and Training; representatives of Room to Read; Departments of Education and Training, experts, and a group of core teachers from three provinces of Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, and Ca Mau.

The training course is one of the activities within the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Education and Training and Room to Read Organization to implement the School Psychology Counseling Support Program and Basic Skills Education to achieve the qualities and competencies specified in the 2018 General Education Program for Secondary and High School levels, period 2022-2030.
Speaking at the opening of the training, Director of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs Tran Van Dat commented: In the current general education system in Vietnam, homeroom teachers play an extremely important role in classroom management and student support.
The homeroom teacher is the person responsible for the care, education and training of students in the classroom.
In school psychological counseling, homeroom teachers play a very important role in preventing students' psychological problems as well as detecting and supporting students with psychological difficulties.
According to Mr. Dat, in the period 2015-2023, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued a number of documents related to psychological counseling in schools. Every year, the Ministry of Education and Training also regularly directs and guides the Departments of Education and Training to carry out tasks related to school psychological counseling;
Actively coordinate with ministries and sectors such as the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Central Youth Union, international organizations such as UNICEF, GNI, Room to Read, etc. to implement workshops, training, surveys, pilot school counseling models, compile guidance documents, and develop communication publications.
In order to improve the capacity of school psychological counseling for homeroom teachers in high schools. The Ministry of Education and Training cooperated with Room to Read Vietnam to compile "Training materials to improve the capacity of school psychological counseling for homeroom teachers in high schools" and organized a pilot training for 3 Departments of Education and Training: Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Ca Mau to provide systematic knowledge on theory and practice and guidance for homeroom teachers in high schools (junior high school and high school) to provide psychological counseling for students.
At the training session, delegates will exchange, interact, and listen to experts share solutions to overcome difficulties, obstacles, and practical situations encountered in schools. From there, staff and teachers will grasp the necessary knowledge and skills to apply in their agencies and units.
