Speaking at the opening of the training course, Ms. Mai Huong Giang, Deputy Director of the Press Department, emphasized the two "concerns" of press agencies in recent times: digital transformation of press and press economics. In order to contribute to promoting a strong change in digital transformation of press, the Press Department has cooperated with Google to implement the "Google News Initiative" (GNI) program in Vietnam.

The Deputy Director of the Press Department said that this is a digital transformation training program for press deployed in Vietnam to help Vietnamese press agencies successfully transform digitally and increase business efficiency in the press sector in Vietnam.
Digital transformation in journalism is also a comprehensive transformation of awareness, management model, production and distribution model, and business of journalism products based on digitalization of resources, digitalization of processes, application of information technology telecommunications infrastructure, big data, artificial intelligence to build a digital public community and exploit the potential of the digital economy. The strategy "Digital transformation of journalism to 2025 and orientation to 2030" approved by the Prime Minister on April 6, 2023 clearly defines the general and specific goals for 2025 and 2030.
The general goal is to “build press agencies in a professional, humane, and modern direction; fulfill the mission of information and propaganda to serve the revolutionary cause of the Party and the cause of national innovation; ensure the role of leading and orienting public opinion, maintaining information sovereignty in cyberspace; effectively innovate readers' experiences; create new sources of revenue; promote the development of the digital content industry”.
Specific goals determine the formation and development of a national digital platform for journalism, the destination of press agencies, training activities of journalism training institutions, of leaders, staff, reporters, editors, etc.
It is known that the training program lasts for 3 days (from November 1 - 3, 2023).
