Kinhtedothi-Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Hanoi City Nguyen Lan Huong hopes that the Honorary Consul will act as a bridge, promoting the introduction and promotion of the country and people of Vietnam, including the capital Hanoi, in Rio de Janeiro City in particular and Brazil in general.
Within the framework of the 2024 People's Foreign Affairs Program, the Hanoi City Delegation led by Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City Nguyen Lan Huong had a meeting with Ms. Marcelle Torres Alves Okuno - who was proposed by the Embassy to be appointed Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Brazil.
At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong informed about the socio-economic situation of Hanoi Capital; hoped that the Honorary Consul would act as a bridge, promote the introduction and promotion of the country and people of Vietnam, including Hanoi Capital in Rio de Janeiro City in particular and Brazil in general .
Thereby, deepening the friendship between the people of Brazil and Vietnam, at the same time , supporting the protection of Vietnamese citizens in Brazil, helping to connect the Vietnamese community in Brazil with the local government .
Ms. Marcelle Torres Alves Okuno expressed her honor to be proposed for appointment as Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Brazil , and discussed with the delegation some of her personal activities in recent times, especially after the Covid pandemic, to promote the friendly relations between Vietnam and Brazil.
Ms. Marcelle Torres Alves Okuno lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; she is a person who loves Vietnam very much, has extensive relationships with politicians, diplomats and business people. She is working for AsiaColors Company - a private company that promotes public diplomacy activities between Asian countries in Brazil, aiming to strengthen friendly relations between peoples.
She is also a member of the research team of the US-based Public Diplomacy Council.
