TP - An excellent student won the Special Prize in the propaganda product design contest to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory with the theme "Students with the aspiration of the country", organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association with a work recreating the Dien Bien Phu victory through 38 pages of a book.
Majoring in graphic design, Vo Minh Hieu - a student at Dong Nai College of Decorative Arts, has a special passion for designing propaganda products about history, the Youth Union, and Associations.
Hieu's work Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954, which won the Special Prize, is a 38-page book designed in vector graphics, realistically depicting with eye-catching images the Dien Bien Phu victory that "resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world". With only 38 pages of the book, mainly in images, student Vo Minh Hieu has fully and vividly recreated the Dien Bien Phu Campaign from the plots and actions of France and the US; our policies and preparations to the developments, results, significance as well as the examples of young heroes in the campaign...

Hieu shared that the most difficult part of writing this book was the process of searching for documents, information, and images to ensure the most complete and accurate information; how to convey the magnitude of the Dien Bien Phu victory, but also exude pride in the nation's heroic historical tradition. "During the process of researching documents, I realized that just talking about the Dien Bien Phu victory is not enough, but it is necessary to highlight how the ethnic minorities of the Northwest fought side by side and contributed to this historic victory. Therefore, the book is divided into two parts: The Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954 and The ethnic minorities of the Northwest with the Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954," Hieu said.
The Dong Nai male student expressed that he had never set foot on the heroic land of Dien Bien, but during the process of creating the work, he was revived with heroic emotions, moved to tears through each story and image. “The most special image is the image of the “determined to fight, determined to win” flag, the heroic soldiers in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign evoked a lot of emotions in me. I put all my feelings and heart into designing the work Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954, including the national flag fluttering in the Campaign”, Hieu shared. In addition, the song “Ho keo phao” became a source of inspiration, the music Hieu listened to throughout the days of researching and completing the work.
With the Special Prize in the propaganda product design contest to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, Hieu was fully sponsored by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association to participate in the journey "Students with aspirations for the country" in Dien Bien Phu city and Muong Nhe district (Dien Bien province) from April 24 to April 27, 2024. Hieu expressed his joy and excitement to participate in the journey and hoped that this practical experience would help him create many meaningful historical works, spreading widely among young people in particular and the community in general.

It is known that the work Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954 is just one of many historical propaganda products of the male student of Dong Nai College of Decorative Arts. Hieu has a special love for History. However, it was not until he became a student of Dong Nai College of Decorative Arts that Hieu's love for History took flight.
“When I became a student at the school, I was lucky to be involved in the activities of the Youth Union and Association and gradually changed from a shy and reserved person to an active and confident person in front of a crowd. I often apply my specialized knowledge to design vivid visual propaganda products for the Youth Union and Association activities such as infographics, posters, books, etc. to create good effects and be widely accepted by young people,” Hieu shared.
“Good news travels fast”, not only creating products for the school, Hieu gradually received “orders” from the Student Association, Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union to design propaganda for important events. In recent times, Hieu has been busy making propaganda products for the 110th birthday of comrade Ly Tu Trong, the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024)... Notably, Hieu is the owner of the entire identity design for the 4th Congress of Delegates of the Dong Nai Provincial Student Association, term 2023 - 2028.
