Many outstanding achievements
Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City Pham Nam Son acknowledged that the past 20 years have been a difficult and challenging journey of construction and development, but have yielded many achievements for the industry.
During this period, the most prominent feature was the daily change in the urban appearance of Da Nang city after 20 years, the urban boundary increased 4 times, the urban orientation from the central core turned to face one of the 7 most beautiful beaches on the planet. Right in the first year of establishment (2003), 21,200 land acquisition decisions were issued with a total land acquisition area of more than 982 hectares and since then, many households have moved to build the great project of Da Nang city.
In the first phase, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City creatively applied the conversion of 520 hectares of national defense land to implement 155 investment projects to build infrastructure and develop the city's socio-economy.
The policy of exploiting land funds to generate budget revenue, with the total revenue from land in the period of 1997-2019 reaching more than 51,500 billion VND, is the main resource for investment in urban and social infrastructure development of the city. In the period of 2017-2022, the industry has successfully auctioned 19 projects and land plots with a total area of 108.9 hectares, with a total revenue of 2,407 billion VND, contributing to the effective management and exploitation of public land funds, increasing budget revenue, ensuring people's livelihood goals, and socio-economic development.
The work of granting land use right certificates; the implementation of the overall project of building a land database; the work of planning and land use plans... have also achieved very impressive results, which are the important basis and foundation for implementing other professional work.
State management of geology and minerals has many positive changes. Mineral exploitation and processing activities have been put into order, both generating revenue for development investment and meeting the demand for construction materials for key gravity projects, contributing to the stable development of the local economy and society.
The potential advantages of the sea are promoted, many resources are invested through a series of international projects; water resource security is focused; digital transformation is promoted on the basis of digital resources, geographic information data, land data, ... towards the development of the digital economy.
Environmental protection work has created a strong change in the awareness and actions of the whole society, shifting from a passive mindset of response and remediation to proactive prevention, control and environmental restoration.
In early 2023, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment announced the results of the implementation of the set of indicators to assess environmental protection results of provinces and centrally-run cities, in which Da Nang is the leading locality in the country. This is also the "sweet fruit" that the city has reaped from its tireless efforts over 15 years of building an environmental city.
Transformation and development in the new era
In the coming time, the urbanization process will create great pressure on the demand for resources and environmental pollution treatment; climate change will develop more rapidly, complexly, unpredictably, and fiercely, greatly affecting production and people's lives. Issues related to land and environmental management still have many limitations, obstacles, and backlogs, affecting people's lives and activities, and need to be resolved soon.
In particular, the requirement to transform the growth model based on science, technology, innovation, and reduced dependence on resources requires the city's natural resources and environment sector to be a pioneer in implementing new solutions and development trends such as developing a green economy, digital economy, circular economy, and low-carbon economy to effectively use resources.
In the coming time, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City will continue to focus on implementing tasks according to the motto "Solidarity, discipline, responsibility"; "Simplified and effective", "Professional, dedicated", "Transformation and development"...

On this occasion, 4 collectives and 4 individuals of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of districts were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for their outstanding achievements in the emulation movements according to the theme in 2022. The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment also awarded the "For the cause of natural resources and environment" medal to 117 individuals in Da Nang city.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City awarded the emulation flag to 1 collective, the title of excellent laborer to 2 collectives and certificates of merit to 2 collectives and 5 individuals for excellently completing their tasks in 2021 and 2022...
