Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Le Cong Binh - Editor-in-Chief of the Ethnic Minority and Development Newspaper said that the Commendation Ceremony for Ethnic Minority Students and Youth is the 10th annual program, having been held for 9 consecutive periods, organized by the Ethnic Minority Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union . In which, the Ethnic Minority and Development Newspaper is the mouthpiece of the Ethnic Minority Committee and is assigned to be the permanent organizer.
After 9 commendation periods, the Organizing Committee (OC) has selected to commend 1,174 students nationwide. From that, it can be seen that the quality of education in mountainous and ethnic minority areas has improved and had significant developments, contributing significantly to the cause of socio -economic development, maintaining national security and defense in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. In this 10th Commendation Ceremony, the Organizing Committee selected 143 outstanding students from 51 ethnic groups from 50 provinces and cities across the country. There are 9 ethnic groups with less than 1,000 people, including 13 students from ethnic minorities with particularly difficult lives, and 12 ethnic groups with particularly difficult lives,...
Accordingly, the 2023 commendation period has a new point in that it will use the criteria for selecting students and young people with higher standards than previous years, which is to select students who are admitted to university with a score of 28 points or higher according to the combination of 3 university entrance subjects in the high school graduation exam for the 2022-2023 school year, not counting priority points, increased points due to multiplication of coefficients according to the regulations of some schools; have good or excellent academic performance, good conduct in 3 years of high school.
Accordingly, the 2023 Commendation Ceremony will select students who won First, Second, and Third prizes in the national excellent student competition; First, Second, and Third prizes in the national Science and Technology competition; or First, Second, and Third prizes (Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals) in national art and sports competitions; First, Second, and Third prizes in art and sports competitions in Southeast Asia, Asia, and internationally.
This year, we acknowledge the achievements of students who won Gold, Silver, Bronze medals in Southeast Asia, Asia and internationally in the fields of Sports, Culture, Education, etc., as well as receiving many awards and titles from Ministries and sectors, higher than last year.
For students who are ethnic minorities belonging to ethnic groups with special difficulties according to Decision No. 1227/QD-TTg dated July 14, 2021 of the Prime Minister, the Organizing Committee also selected 9 students with university entrance results to be honored. At the same time, they will also receive certificates of merit from the Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee.
In this commendation, the Organizing Committee has checked and reviewed the students and youth who were commended in the previous 9 commendation periods. Most of them continued to develop their abilities and strive to excel in their studies and work. Many of them have found stable jobs after graduation and have made significant contributions to the development of the locality.
Through that, the meaning of the annual Commendation Ceremony program has been spread to millions of viewers; contributing to affirming the superior and consistent policies of our Party and State in building and developing human resources in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
At the same time, encourage and motivate students, university students, and ethnic minority youth to continue to make efforts, strive, and train to become young talents contributing to the cause of building the homeland and country.
During the press conference, reporters and journalists asked many questions to the Program's Organizing Committee to contribute to perfecting the Ceremony to honor outstanding and exemplary ethnic minority students and youth in 2023.
The award ceremony will take place over 2 days from December 25 to 26. The program will be organized and broadcast live on VTC1 and 15 local stations at 8:00 p.m. on December 26, 2023 at Ho Guom Theater, 40 Hang Bai, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
