Reviewing Van Lang School's conditions to accept 174 illegally recruited students

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí31/10/2024

(Dan Tri) - The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has inspected the facilities of Van Lang High School, which is proposed to accept 174 10th grade students "arbitrarily recruited" by To Hien Thanh High School.

Regarding the case of To Hien Thanh High School enrolling 174 10th grade students despite not being given a quota, the Department of Education and Training has proposed solutions.

Accordingly, the Department has assigned the Financial Planning Department to review the contents of the 10th grade admission conditions of Van Lang High School, ensuring compliance with regulations and adequate facilities to receive 174 transferred students as proposed by To Hien Thanh School.

The Department also requested To Hien Thanh School to fully announce the current tuition fees and the expected tuition fees for the next two years of Van Lang High School to parents.

In case other fees have been collected, the school must refund them to the parents.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet, Principal of To Hien Thanh High School, informed Dan Tri reporter that the contributions including tuition fees of 174 students will be kept the same when transferring to Van Lang School.

At the same time, according to the agreement, Van Lang School also supports keeping the same classes as at To Hien Thanh School.

"Thus, students who are in a class will continue to study that class, and students who are studying a subject group will continue to study that subject group, unless they have special needs," said Ms. Tuyet.

Yesterday afternoon, following the official dispatch of the Department of Education and Training, To Hien Thanh High School held a meeting with the families of 174 students to agree on a solution. The school also directly apologized to the parents for the violations in the enrollment process.

Currently, 174 students are waiting for the final announcement from the Department of Education and Training on whether they will be transferred to Van Lang School to study or not.

As reported by Dan Tri , parents reported that 174 grade 10 students of To Hien Thanh High School for the 2024-2025 school year were not listed in the system of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training even though the school year had already started for 3 months.

The reason is that the school was not given enrollment quotas by the Department this year.

Parents have known about this since late September, through the press and documents from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. After nearly 3 months of studying, 174 students still have to "study secretly".

To Hien Thanh High School was established in 1997 and is listed by the Department of Education and Training. In previous years, the school had been enrolling students normally. This year, the school was not granted a quota "due to not meeting the legal requirements for the location of operation".
