According to The Nation newspaper, the Emir of Qatar held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss promoting bilateral relations as well as regional developments.

Sheikh Tamim's visit coincides with increased diplomatic activity in the Middle East aimed at addressing issues such as post-war governance and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, the recovery of Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, and ending the conflict in Ukraine.

At a press conference after the talks, Sheikh Tamim said the two leaders discussed "difficult situations in the region and agreed that the best way to resolve conflicts is through constructive dialogue."

“Dialogue and understanding will support stability in the region and enhance the prosperity of its countries and people,” the Qatari leader said.

Regarding the Gaza Strip, Emir Sheikh Tamim stressed the need to adhere to the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel as well as the need to provide aid to the enclave.

On the issue of Syria, the head of Qatar stressed the need for a "comprehensive political process" in the "post-al-Assad" period.

For his part, the Iranian President said that regional countries can "work and cooperate to achieve stability and security", noting the unity of Syria's territory and the right to self-determination of its people.

Thanking Qatar for its efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Palestinian prisoners, Mr. Pezeshkian called on Muslim countries to act together to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and end crimes against them.

Earlier, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as saying that Iran and Qatar had "engaged in important and key consultations on economic issues" that would be discussed during the king's visit. He said the two countries were in touch about regional developments, "specifically the Palestinian issue."
