National Day September 2 - Pride of the nation

During the historic autumn days, every Vietnamese person is filled with excitement and joy about the success of the August Revolution, a brilliant milestone of our country's revolution and the sacred Independence Day of the nation. Firmly following the glorious revolutionary tradition, on the path of construction and development, Quang Ninh province has constantly strived to become a dynamic and developed locality.

Historical autumn in everyone's heart

These days, all over the roads and streets from urban to rural areas, mountainous areas, and remote islands of the province are brightly decorated with flags and flowers to celebrate the August Revolution and National Day September 2. On the faces of every person is joy and pride in the glorious history of the Vietnamese people, in inheriting and promoting the achievements in the country's renovation process.

In the fall of that year, right after the August Revolution succeeded, on September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square (Hanoi), President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, declaring to the people of the whole country and all of humanity in the world, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam). From here, our country entered a new era - the era of independence, freedom and socialism. The Declaration of Independence is the first important legal document giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, affirming and condensing the traditional values of patriotism and the aspiration for independence and freedom of the nation, making an important contribution to the development of human thought on human rights and national rights. September 2, 1945 has entered the history of building and defending the country of our people as a brilliant milestone affirming the independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party and Uncle Ho; is the “torch” that illuminates and encourages the Vietnamese revolutionary path and the national liberation movement in the world. The democratic, free and fair values of National Day September 2nd will forever resonate with the mountains, rivers, country and in the hearts of the Vietnamese people.

These days, the streets are filled with colorful flags celebrating Independence Day.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh (Cao Thang Ward, Ha Long City) confided: On the morning of September 2, 1945, Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. I was still young so I did not fully understand the significance of this event. Later, every September 2, through the media, I heard the resounding words of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence, and I was filled with pride and emotion. From a small Vietnam, with the extraordinary strength of solidarity and indomitable will, we rose up together to defeat the invaders. There is no greater happiness than when, after many years of being occupied by foreign invaders, the people escaped the miserable life of slavery. Looking at the red flag with yellow star solemnly flying everywhere, every Vietnamese person is filled with emotion...

Veteran Luu Phuong Yen (head of group 84, zone 5, Bach Dang ward, Ha Long city), emotionally confided: I am very proud that every time Independence Day comes, my fellow villagers and comrades sit down to review the glorious traditions of the nation; pay tribute to comrades and comrades who heroically sacrificed their lives to fight for the independence and freedom of the nation. To celebrate the success of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, every household in my group simultaneously hangs the national flag; enthusiastically participates in cleaning the streets and alleys, creating an exciting competitive atmosphere, thereby strengthening solidarity in the residential group and neighborhood. This is also an opportunity to educate children and grandchildren about historical values, the strength of solidarity and unity, thereby multiplying pride in the victory of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Nguyen Thu Phuong (Hong Ha Ward, Ha Long City, student at Hanoi University) was moved: As a young generation born and raised in peacetime, with a prosperous life and a full education, I always remember the contributions of the previous generation who sacrificed their blood and bones for national independence. I always remind myself to try harder, improve my knowledge, practice, and contribute to the common cause of the country for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization.

These days, on the streets filled with flags, banners, and slogans bearing the spirit of the August Revolution and the immortal National Day of September 2, every Vietnamese person shares the same emotion and pride in the sacred Fatherland of Vietnam...

Steady steps on the path of development

Promoting the spirit of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, under the leadership of the Party, our people have overcome all difficulties, hardships, and sacrifices, defeated invasions, protected national independence, carried out the renovation process, and built a new, advanced culture imbued with national identity.

Promoting the revolutionary tradition, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Quang Ninh province are steadfast in the goal and ideal of national independence associated with socialism on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought. In the process of innovation, integration and development with the country, overcoming all difficulties, Quang Ninh has achieved many great and comprehensive achievements in all fields, affirming the role and position of the northeastern region of the country; becoming one of the leading provinces in the innovation of the Northern Delta region, a growth pole of the Northern region.

In particular, over the past 60 years since Quang Ninh province was established on October 30 (1963-2024), the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system has been focused on and promoted. The Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee has been clean and strong for many consecutive years; it is continuously among the leading provinces in terms of provincial competitiveness index. National defense, security and order are ensured, Quang Ninh has become a solid defense area in terms of national defense - security and a frontline for cooperation and international economic integration.

From a province with a low starting point and very difficult socio-economic conditions, Quang Ninh has become one of the dynamic, dynamically developing regions in the Northern Key Economic Zone, an important gateway for international cooperation. The scale of the economy is increasing rapidly, reaching 315,839 billion VND in 2023, 5.7 times higher than in 2010, ranking 3rd in the Northern region (after Hanoi and Hai Phong), contributing 10.1% to the total economic scale of the Red River Delta. Quang Ninh is always in the group of provinces and cities with the highest contribution to the national budget (domestic revenue in the 2016-2020 period ranked in the group of 5 provinces and cities with high revenue) and is one of 18 localities nationwide that regulate the national budget. For 11 consecutive years (2013-2023), Quang Ninh has been in the group of 5 provinces and cities with the best economic management quality in the country. At the same time, it is the only locality to maintain the top position in PCI for 7 consecutive years; 5 consecutive years leading the SIPAS index; 6 years leading the PAR Index. More specifically, with the dynamism in calling for resources, investing in infrastructure and open policies, creating all favorable conditions in handling administrative procedures, the province's investment attraction results have continuously reached record numbers, reaching 5 billion USD in 2023, of which FDI attraction is the highest ever with more than 3.1 billion USD. In the first 7 months of 2024, Quang Ninh continued to attract 1.56 billion USD, ranking 2nd in the country.

Taking advantage of its natural advantages and beautiful landscapes, Quang Ninh province has invested heavily in tourism development. At every stage, Quang Ninh has made a breakthrough, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, Quang Ninh tourism industry has emerged as a spearhead economic sector, contributing effectively to rapid economic recovery after the pandemic. Tourists to Quang Ninh in 2023 will reach 15.5 million, of which international visitors will reach 2 million, revenue from tourism will be nearly 30,000 billion VND; in the first 7 months of 2024, Quang Ninh will attract nearly 13 million visitors, with revenue of over 29,300 billion VND. Quang Ninh continuously operates, innovates, and diversifies tourism products, building the image of Quang Ninh as a tourist destination in all 4 seasons of the year; striving to attract 19 million tourists this year.

In the development process, the province always closely and harmoniously combines economic development with cultural development, social progress and equity, ensures social security, cares for the material and spiritual life of the people, with many policies and strategies that are superior to many localities in the country. The quality of life of people in all regions in the province has improved significantly. The average GRDP per capita in 2023 will reach 9,500 USD, 3.9 times higher than in 2010, 21.6 times higher than in 2000 and 40.5 times higher than in 1995, 2.23 times higher than the national average, ranking 2nd in the country...

Quang Ninh today has become a model in implementing the innovation process, a model of creatively applying the Party's viewpoints, policies and guidelines into practice; a model of breakthrough in thinking, especially in development planning, building infrastructure systems, institutional reform, improving the investment environment, and persistently promoting the transition from "brown" to "green"...

Celebrating the 79th anniversary of the success of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the 55th anniversary of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's Testament, the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people of Quang Ninh province continue to unite and uphold the spirit of determination to strive to carry out Uncle Ho's advice "Build Quang Ninh to become a rich and beautiful province"; contributing to realizing the wish in his Testament "Striving to build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, making a worthy contribution to the world revolutionary cause".
