Visiting Ha Long Bay and historical sites in the province on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, Jack Chong (a Malaysian tourist) shared: Like many Asian countries, Lunar New Year is one of the most important holidays for the majority of Malaysians. This is also the time when people in Malaysia gather with their families and relatives to look forward to good things. With the belief that a good start is the premise for a lucky year, after learning from many sources, on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, after performing the traditional New Year rituals with my family in Malaysia, my family and friends and I chose Ha Long Bay, Vietnam as our first destination. As expected, not only did we participate in the New Year's activities according to Vietnamese customs and culture, we also enjoyed many delicious dishes typical of Vietnamese New Year in Quang Ninh. In particular, despite the bustling atmosphere and large crowds, it is very safe, with convenient traffic and no theft or social evils. This is truly a wonderful start to the new year.

It is known that from January 29 to February 4 (ie the first to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year 2025), Ha Long Bay welcomed nearly 1,500 sightseeing cruises with more than 39,600 visitors, including nearly 31,500 foreign visitors, 364 overnight stays on the Bay with nearly 10,500 visitors, mainly foreign visitors, an increase of 36% over the same period of the Lunar New Year 2024. The number of visitors increased, but thanks to good state management of social order; residence management, management of conditional business lines and occupations on security and order were strengthened, all sightseeing and relaxation needs of people and tourists were ensured; on Ha Long Bay in particular and the entire waterway of the province, there were no traffic accidents.
During the Lunar New Year 2025, the number of guests staying on the Bay increased dramatically, with the average capacity of the overnight fleet reaching 80-90%.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Thin, Captain of the Waterway Police Team, Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police), to ensure safety and best serve all travel and sightseeing needs of people and tourists, right before the Lunar New Year, on the basis of firmly grasping the situation and information from travel agencies and accommodation businesses, the Traffic Police Department has proactively coordinated with professional departments of the Provincial Police and Ha Long City Police to conduct a general inspection and review of technical safety conditions of vehicles, test for drugs and check the qualifications and professional certificates of the team of captains, crew members, and people working on all means of transporting tourists to visit and stay on the Bay. During the Tet holiday, strictly implementing the direction of the Party Committee and the leadership of the Provincial Police, the unit mobilized maximum forces and means to organize on-duty and standby duty according to regulations, at the same time strengthening the exchange of information and coordination with the Provincial Border Guard, the Waterway Port Authority and related forces, increasing patrols, control, and surprise inspections of compliance with regulations on ensuring waterway traffic safety of vehicle owners, as well as the team of captains and crew members working on the vehicles; resolutely handling violations that pose potential safety risks, especially violations of: Alcohol concentration, overloading, failure to ensure on-duty and on-duty.
The Traffic Police Department coordinates with professional departments (Provincial Police), Ha Long City Police to increase patrols to ensure safety and serve ships staying overnight in the Bay.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, the Waterway Police Team, Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) alone detected and handled 16 vehicles carrying goods beyond the safe waterline, 5 cases of crew members and employees working on ships violating alcohol concentration, 1 case of employee working on a ship testing positive for drugs, and transferred 4 criminal cases to the authorities (2 cases of illegal possession of drugs, 2 cases of using destructive fishing gear in Ha Long Bay).

With many measures to ensure security and order in the tourism sector being implemented synchronously and drastically, it has contributed to promptly detecting, correcting and overcoming loopholes in state management in the tourism sector, ensuring security and safety in Ha Long Bay in particular and Quang Ninh province in general. This is an important premise for Quang Ninh to strive to attract 19 million tourists by 2025, including 3.8 million international visitors.
