Recently, the story about Quang Hai 's future has been a widely discussed topic. The Vietnamese player still has more than a year left on his contract with Pau FC (until June 2024) but wants to leave because he does not get much playing time.
Quang Hai is said to be negotiating to join Muangthong United (Thailand). Many Thai newspapers are concerned that Muangthong United may not be able to meet the salary requirements of the Vietnamese player.
However, according to Salary Sport, Quang Hai's salary at Pau FC is not high. Specifically, the Vietnamese player only receives 680 pounds per week (19.8 million VND). The 26-year-old star's annual salary is about 35,360 pounds (more than 1 billion VND).
Quang Hai is among the lowest paid players at Pau FC, just higher than a few young players. In fact, this salary is very low compared to many colleagues in Europe (only equivalent to young team players).
The highest paid player at Pau FC is Henri Saivet, who is paid £3,200 a week (nearly 94 million VND), or £166,400 a year (more than 4.8 billion VND). In second place is Jovan Nišić, with a salary of £161,000 a year. The next players on this list are Alexandre Olliero (£130,000 a year), Antoine Batisse (£130,000 a year), David Gomis (£124,000 a year).
Pau FC's total wage bill for this season is £2.36m. That's a fairly modest figure compared to the average in the French Second Division (Ligue 2).
Of course, Quang Hai's top goal in his trip abroad is not necessarily income. The Vietnamese player wants to compete and gain experience in a football country that is more developed than Vietnam.
However, Quang Hai did not achieve this goal. According to statistics, since the beginning of the season, Quang Hai has only started twice for Pau FC and appeared as a substitute 10 times (out of 20 times on the bench). The 26-year-old midfielder has only played 254 minutes and has not made a strong impression. In fact, in 2023, Quang Hai has only played two matches for Pau FC with a total of 10 minutes.
Quang Hai's chances of playing are getting smaller as Pau FC are struggling to avoid relegation. They are currently ranked 14th in Ligue 2 with 34 points after 30 matches, just 3 points above the relegation zone. Pau FC only have 8 matches left to save their fate.
Previously, Quang Hai also contacted a few football teams in Japan and Thailand, but in the end, he decided to decline to go to Europe to try his hand.
