Co Loa Citadel is one of 21 National Tourist Areas of Vietnam. With its great value in many aspects, on September 27, 2012, the historical, architectural, artistic and archaeological relic of Co Loa Citadel was ranked as a special National Monument by the Prime Minister. Author Nguyen Binh Quang introduces to you the ancient beauty of Co Loa Citadel through the photo series "Co Loa Complex - Special National Historical Relic". The photo series was submitted by the author to the Happy Vietnam Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications. Located in the center of Loa Thanh, Co Loa Temple, also known as An Duong Vuong Temple, is a sacred ancient temple with many important historical values. This temple is a place to show respect and remembrance for the historical contributions of An Duong Vuong - the founder of Au Lac country. Co Loa Communal House is located in the middle of the inner citadel and was built with a rather large architecture. Ngu Trieu Di Quy Communal House is depicted with many unique architectural forms, including the Four Sacred Animals and the Four Noble Ones. During the Le Dynasty, this communal house was rebuilt with solidity, preserving the original essence and inheriting cultural values for hundreds of years until today. The Co Loa National Special Historical Relic Complex is located in the territory of 3 communes Co Loa, Duc Tu and Viet Hung in Dong Anh District - Hanoi. Co Loa was the capital of the Au Lac state during the An Duong Vuong period in the 3rd century BC and of the Dai Viet state during the Ngo Quyen period in the 10th century. Co Loa Citadel is a historical evidence remaining to this day, considered the oldest citadel, the largest in scale, and the most unique structure in the history of citadel construction of the ancient Vietnamese people. According to legend, this is the resting place of My Chau. When she threw herself into the sea, the fishermen around saw a human-shaped rock washed ashore. They tried to bring the rock back but failed, only when they reached the banyan tree did the burden suddenly become lighter. For that reason, a temple was built here, located under the shade of a thousand-year-old banyan tree. Ngoc Well is located right at the entrance of An Duong Vuong Temple, in the middle of Ban Nguyet Lake in Co Loa Citadel. Ngoc Well stands out with its clear blue water, trees and cool space. In particular, Ngoc Well is where Trong Thuy threw himself into the water because of his grief for My Chau. Co Loa Citadel is not only a cultural heritage, a testament to the creativity, technical level and culture of the ancient Vietnamese people, but also an ideal destination for tourists from all over the world in modern life. This place has long been a tourist destination with rich historical and literary values associated with many legends of the Vietnamese people.
