What should vehicles traveling on the highway to Ha Tinh pay attention to?

On the morning of June 28, Giao thong Newspaper reporters were present on the remaining 19km section (from QL46B intersection to QL8A intersection), Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway project.

On the morning of June 30, the remaining section of Dien Chau - Bai Vot highway was officially opened.

According to records, contractors have completed the construction of the main route and basically completed the installation of traffic safety systems such as: signs, anti-glare nets, soft guardrails...

Currently, contractors are cleaning, installing intelligent traffic management systems and completing some additional work.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, General Director of Phuc Thanh Hung Joint Stock Company (project enterprise) said: "We are urging contractors to complete all work on the main route on the morning of June 29 so that in the afternoon of the same day, we will hold a traffic opening ceremony. At exactly 7:00 a.m. on June 30, 2024, the entire route of this project will be officially opened to traffic."

Confirming the information, Mr. Ngo Trong Nghia, Deputy Head of Project Management Board 6 (representing the competent State agency in the project) added: "The standing agency of the State Acceptance Council has sent a document to the Ministry of Transport stating that the remaining 19km of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway project is eligible for traffic opening."

Initially, the last 19km of the route will ban vehicles with a load capacity of over 10 tons, while passenger cars will circulate normally.

What should drivers pay attention to?

After the entire Dien Chau – Bai Vot expressway is opened to traffic, the North – South expressway will officially connect Hanoi to Ha Tinh. The end point of this project is also the first on-off interchange in Ha Tinh province.

From the above intersection, turn right and move west. People can follow National Highway 8A to Huong Son district, then follow Ho Chi Minh road to Vu Quang and Huong Khe districts of Ha Tinh province; or go to Cau Treo International Border Gate to go to Laos.

If you turn left, move east to Hong Linh town, then follow National Highway 1 to Can Loc, Loc Ha districts, Ha Tinh city.

Mr. Ngo Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 6 (representative of the competent State agency in the project) noted: "In the first days of opening the remaining 19km section of Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway, vehicles with a load capacity of over 10 tons will not be allowed to operate; other types of cars and passenger cars are allowed to operate normally".

In addition, like the first 30km of the project, the remaining 19km section allows vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 90km/h and a minimum speed of 60km/h; in the sections separating lanes to enter and exit intersections, the maximum speed is 60km/h.

To ensure traffic safety in the first days of the opening of the expressway to Bai Vot (Ha Tinh), the Highway Management Area II (Vietnam Road Administration) has directed the units managing the route to put up signs, guide and regulate traffic from a distance.

“In addition to placing signs, the area has also directed inspection forces to set up checkpoints at 4 locations, including: QL7A intersection (beginning of the project), QL1 intersection with QL8A, Hong Linh Town bypass intersection with QL8A and expressway intersection with QL8A (end of the route) to regulate, guide and ensure traffic safety,” added Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung, Deputy Director of Road Management Area II.

Major Nguyen Kim Thi, Captain of Road Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 4 (Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security) also said: "The project enterprise has had discussions with the team on ensuring traffic safety on the section of the road that is about to open to traffic.

Once there is a specific plan, the team will organize and implement the work to ensure safety for this section in particular and for all sections under the team's responsibility in general."

Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway is one of 11 component projects of the North-South Expressway Project, Eastern Phase I (2017 - 2020) and is one of 3 component projects invested in the form of public-private partnership (PPP).

The project has a total length of more than 50km, passing through two provinces: Nghe An (44.4km) and Ha Tinh (4.9km), with a total investment of VND 11,157 billion.

The investor is a consortium of 5 enterprises including: Hoa Hiep Company Limited, CIENCO4 Group, Nui Hong Company Limited, Truong Son Construction Corporation, VINA 2 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company. The project enterprise is Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company.

The first 30km of the route (from the QL7A intersection to the QL46B intersection, in Nghe An province) was opened to traffic on April 30, 2024, shortening the travel time from Hanoi to Vinh (Nghe An) to only 3.5 hours, instead of more than 5 hours as before.

According to the direction of the Ministry of Transport, the remaining 19km of the project will be opened to traffic on June 30, 2024.
