Hanoi University of Science and Technology Admissions 2024 in the Most Detailed Way

Hanoi University of Science and Technology maintains stable enrollment methods but increases enrollment quota to more than 9,200 students and opens a new program.

On February 21, Mr. Vu Duy Hai, Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), said that this year the school will enroll 9,260 students, an increase of more than 1,000 compared to last year, partly due to the opening of a new program in Educational Management.

The school maintains stable admission methods, including talent selection (20% of total enrollment target), based on thinking assessment test scores (30%), and high school graduation exam scores (50%).

With the talent selection method, Hanoi University of Science and Technology continues to directly recruit excellent students according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, consider candidates with international certificates SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP and IP, and at the same time consider capacity profiles combined with interviews.

Candidates using international certificates for admission must have an average score of 8 or higher in grades 10, 11 and 12.

With the combination of the application form and interview, candidates need to have an average score of 8 or higher in cultural subjects (except Physical Education and National Defense and Security Education) in each year of grades 10, 11, and 12 and meet at least one of the following conditions: being selected for the national excellent student competition; having provincial awards in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, IT, Foreign Language; being selected for the national science and technology competition, Road to Olympia, month-long or higher; being a specialized student.

Candidates with IELTS certificate 6.0 or higher or equivalent can apply for admission to the majors of English Language, Economics - Management, Educational Technology, and Educational Management.

With the method of considering based on the thinking assessment test scores and considering the high school graduation exam results, candidates need to reach the minimum score set by the school. The specific level will be announced later.

As for the thinking assessment exam, this year the school opened 6 exam sessions at 20 locations in 10 provinces and cities including Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Thai Nguyen, and Da Nang.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology still converts foreign language certificates into English scores for candidates with IELTS 5.0 or higher. The conversion level is from 8.5 to 10.

Admission criteria and methods for each major in 2024 of Hanoi University of Science and Technology are as follows:

Last year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology used the standard score based on the high school graduation exam scores ranging from 21 to 29.42. Computer Science had the highest admission score. Because this major calculated the standard score with Math multiplied by 2 and then converted to a 30-point scale, the two top students of the A group nationwide failed their first choice.

The second highest benchmark is Data Science and Artificial Intelligence with 28.8. Some majors only take 21 points including Environmental Engineering, Bioengineering (advanced program), and Environmental and Resource Management.

In terms of thinking assessment scores, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science are still the two majors with the highest entrance scores, nearly 84/100 points.
