Low-lying areas in Phong Dien town are being drained.

Currently, the flooded rice area is in the area of nearly 5,000 hectares of winter-spring crop and is in the tillering stage (20-25 days old). In particular, the localities with heavily flooded rice areas are Phong Binh commune with 300 hectares, Phong Chuong commune with 247 hectares; Phong Hoa ward with 230 hectares, Phong Thu ward with 102.2 hectares...

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan, Head of the Economic Department of Phong Dien town, said that through the inspection and survey of the flooded rice area in the locality, the town leaders are currently directing departments and units to coordinate with localities to mobilize human resources, materials, equipment, and pumping stations to drain the water. For low-lying areas such as Phong Binh, Phong Chuong, Phong Hoa..., localities are mobilizing more than 43 pumping stations to drain the water and regulate the water through My Xuyen dam into O Lau river; in hilly areas such as Phong Xuan, Phong My, the self-flowing water system is being deployed to drain the water in the area.

In addition to focusing on flood control, in Phong Chuong, Phong Binh, Phong Hoa communes and wards, people are being mobilized to reinforce the banks, dikes, and clear the dam system. After the water recedes, the impact rate will be checked and assessed, and care, pruning, weeding, etc. will be carried out to avoid affecting the yield of the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop.
