After listening to the report of the leaders of Quang Ninh province and the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang shared the losses of the families whose relatives were injured and the losses of the unit in the mine accident last night.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested Quang Ninh province and TKV to promptly overcome the consequences of the accident; implement policy procedures to take care of families whose relatives suffered work-related accidents. Affirming that human life is priceless, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the coal industry to have solutions to minimize accidents during the mining process; at the same time, it is necessary to review the entire production process, if necessary, to upgrade the safety level in necessary cases.
Regarding Quang Ninh province, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang hopes that the locality will actively share and support the coal industry to improve standards and safety indexes in the production process.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, said that the issue of safety in the coal industry has always been of concern to the locality and is regularly included in the agenda of meetings of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee. Quang Ninh Province also directed the coal industry to review the risk factors that can be predicted. At the same time, it is necessary to improve propaganda work so that workers can feel secure when entering the mine.
As reported, at around 10:10 p.m. on July 29, 2024, at the Lo Cho area at level -110 of seam 12 Giap Khau of Hon Gai Coal Company - TKV in Ha Khanh ward (Ha Long city), a group of 5 workers were working when an occupational accident occurred. As a result, all 5 people died, including: Bui Van D., born in 1985 (level 5/5 underground mine worker), the head of the production team; Be Van Q., born in 1991 (level 2/5 miner); To Xuan T., born in 2001 (level 2/5 miner); Giang A C., born in 1994 (level 1/5 miner); Vu Van H., born in 1977 (level 5/5 miner). Currently, 4 workers have been brought back to their hometowns for their families to take care of the funeral; TKV is actively contacting the family of a worker from Dien Bien to coordinate and support him to return home.
Regarding policies and regimes, Quang Ninh province currently supports 25 million VND/deceased person. Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group supports 20 million VND/deceased person; Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Union supports 20 million VND/deceased person. Hon Gai Coal Company resolves policies according to State regulations; arranges funeral expenses for workers and supports workers' families with an initial level of 100 million VND/family.
