A rare wild animal that crawled into the yard was captured by a man in Hue and handed over to the forest rangers.
On February 16, the Forest Protection Department of Huong Thuy town (Hue city) announced that this agency had just received a rare wild animal voluntarily surrendered by a man.
The rare wild animal received by Huong Thuy Town Forest Protection Department is a Java pangolin weighing 1.8 kg and in normal health condition.

This Java pangolin was voluntarily handed over by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Su (working at the Ta Trach Reservoir Management Board, Thanh Van village, Duong Hoa commune, Huong Thuy town, Hue city).
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Su accidentally discovered a Java pangolin wandering into the yard of the Ta Trach Lake Management Board. Knowing that this was a rare wild animal, after capturing it, Mr. Su contacted the forest rangers to release it back into the wild.
After receiving the Java pangolin, Huong Thuy Town Forest Protection Department is taking care of it and completing procedures to release it back into the natural environment.
Javan pangolin (manis javanica) is classified in group IB in the List of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals under Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP and is included in the List of endangered, precious and rare species prioritized for protection issued with Decree No. 64/2019/ND-CP of the Government.
The Javan pangolin is also listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List as "globally endangered."
