On the afternoon of September 25, the Organizing Committee of the contest to create a bronze statue of Ba Trieu in Thanh Hoa province held a launching ceremony.

The contest starts on September 25 and will accept entries for 6 months (from September 25).
According to the project on organizing a contest to create a bronze statue sketch of Ba Trieu approved by the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, the purpose of the contest is to select a model of Ba Trieu statue to be erected on the top of Gai mountain, part of the Ba Trieu special national relic complex (Trieu Loc commune, Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa).
The area for building the Ba Trieu monument is about 1.4 hectares wide, the monument is 36 meters high. The total investment capital for the monument is expected to be 150 billion VND, sponsored by Sun Group Corporation.
Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee also made a request for the statue of Ba Trieu: it must represent the typical image with the indomitable will of National Hero Trieu Thi Trinh - Ba Trieu in the context of the country being invaded and occupied.
Through the language of sculpture, the monument must depict the image of a national heroine riding an elephant into battle to defeat the Wu army with a dignified and majestic posture, expressing heroic spirit and great ambition but still close to the people, with the image of a Vietnamese woman who is "heroic, indomitable, loyal, and courageous".
If the entries win first, second, or third prizes, in addition to receiving cash prizes, the Organizing Committee will submit them to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee for consideration and selection of a monument model.
The statue of Ba Trieu once caused a stir in public opinion and was not chosen.
The selection of the sketch model and the construction of the Ba Trieu statue attracted great attention from the public as well as many people in Thanh Hoa province in September 2022, when the province proposed a sketch model of the Ba Trieu statue (photo above) and was basically unanimously selected by the Standing Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee.
However, after the sketch appeared, there were many conflicting opinions from those knowledgeable about sculpture, art and the people, saying that the sketch still had many "flaws" and was not reasonable, such as the statue base compared to the image of Ba Trieu was not proportional in proportion; the image of Ba Trieu and the elephant did not show the spirit of the Queen when going into battle...
After receiving mixed opinions, Thanh Hoa provincial authorities planned to solicit public opinions on the model of the Ba Trieu statue. However, this was not implemented and was replaced by a plan to hold a contest to recreate the model of the Ba Trieu statue.
