"I think that no matter what job women do, big or small, they must always be confident and constantly learn to improve themselves," said Ms. Ngo Thi Dieu Hien (41 years old, living in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City).

One day in early March 2025, at her private home on Lac Long Quan Street (Ward 3, District 11, Ho Chi Minh City), which is also the "headquarters" of Thuan Nam Stationery Company Limited, Ms. Ngo Thi Dieu Hien was assisting her employees in the product packaging process. Around her, modern presses and printers were still operating at full capacity.

"Initially, Thuan Nam was just a small business that not many people knew about. But now, the company's products are present in all provinces/cities across the country and exported to many countries in the region, especially Laos and Cambodia," Ms. Dieu Hien began the story.

A Hue native, Dieu Hien graduated from university with a degree in Law and went to Ho Chi Minh City to work for a well-known logistics company. In 2010, she got married and decided to quit her job to support her husband's business.

"Actually, in the past, I wanted to study police and become a civil servant. When I decided to quit my job at the logistics company, I had to struggle a lot because this job allowed me to travel a lot, meet many people, and had a high salary, which is the dream of many people. But at that time, my husband wanted me to come back and support his work, so I was determined," Ms. Dieu Hien recalled.

At that time, Thuan Nam was just a family business with two main products, rulers and school boards, which were not yet known to many people. Realizing the great potential of the tool segment, she discussed with her husband a plan to expand the product and market. In August 2013, the couple decided to sell all the old machines they had and invested all their capital in modern technology and machinery. According to her, this was a bold and reckless decision, but in fact it was also very carefully calculated.

"When we sold the old machines, there were many people who rumored that we went bankrupt. But only 3 days later, when they saw the new machines being brought in, did everyone know that we had invested in changing the machines, and they were all large and modern. In 2016, Thuan Nam Company was officially established, and I took on the position of director," she shared.

In the early days of establishing the business, Ms. Hien also faced many challenges such as legal issues or fierce market competition. Despite many difficulties, she still kept learning and especially never got discouraged. Besides, the experience and relationships gained during her time working at the logistics company helped her a lot. In particular, according to her, because her mother and grandmother were famous business people in her hometown, she herself learned how to do business from a young age. Everything she did was carefully calculated and measured.

With tireless efforts, the company headed by Ms. Ngo Thi Dieu Hien has grown steadily. The company currently has 22 employees, most of whom are women. For female employees, in addition to the prescribed policies and regimes, the company also has many separate policies and regimes to support them.

Specifically, the company always creates favorable conditions in terms of time so that female workers can pick up and drop off their children, take care of them when they are sick; support accommodation for workers from other provinces or support workers to buy cars on installments to have means of transportation... In addition to regular labor, the company also creates jobs for many women in difficult circumstances in the area, by letting them receive processing and packaging of items at home; with an income of about 4 - 5 million VND/month.

Share with those in difficult circumstances

Not only is she good at managing her business and taking care of her family, Ms. Ngo Thi Dieu Hien is also known by many people for her meaningful volunteer activities. For a long time, on the first or fifteenth day of the lunar month, she often coordinates with local authorities to give gifts to people in difficult circumstances in the area.

After that, her charity activities became more frequent and extensive. Not only supporting and sharing with people, especially women and children orphaned by Covid-19 in the area, she also regularly awarded scholarships to children who overcame difficulties and excelled in their studies, and gifts to people in the Central provinces/cities such as Hue, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, etc.

"This year, I also have a plan to build charity houses for people who are having difficulty with housing in the district. In business, I weigh and calculate carefully, but in charity activities, I try to do as much as I can, without worrying or calculating anything. I myself am very lucky to have my husband's full support and understanding. In charity activities, he not only supports but also guides and shares how to do charity activities in the most practical and effective way," said Ms. Dieu Hien.

According to the Women's Union of District 11 (HCMC), as a member of the District's Women Entrepreneurs Club, Ms. Ngo Thi Dieu Dien has contributed a lot to social security activities in the past time. In particular, she has actively helped and supported women and children in difficult circumstances in the area such as: supporting 3 bicycles for poor and studious students, supporting 140 gifts for poor students in Ward 3; giving 230 gifts to exemplary children in the Uncle Ho's Good Children Congress; awarding 4 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai scholarships worth 8 million VND; awarding 50 gifts of school supplies and 1,000 notebooks to excellent students in difficult circumstances in the area. Every year, she accompanies the District Women's Union in taking care of Tet for members and women in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 10 million VND.

According to Ms. Ngo Thi Dieu Hien, to achieve the results she has now, she has always received support and companionship from her family members. Besides, she also constantly tries to learn to improve herself.

"The path you take is not always smooth, but there will be ups and downs. You have to be passionate and confident enough, not giving up, to be successful. Besides, more importantly, you have to balance your time between family, work and society, then success will have meaning and value," Ms. Ngo Thi Dieu Hien shared.
