While the peach blossoms were still blooming, in the first days of the spring of At Ty, 433 ethnic minority students returned to the "common home" of Phu Yen Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minority Boarding Students, determined to win good grades; this was also the premise to "give wings" to help them overcome mountains, reach far to reach success, and at the same time maintain the ranking of 2nd out of 12 districts and cities in terms of boarding education quality in the province.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Ha Thi Thanh Tam, a Muong ethnic minority, left her family to enroll at Phu Yen Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities. With the dedicated teaching of teachers, Thanh Tam gradually got used to the boarding environment, fostering a spirit of studiousness; not letting down her family and teachers, Thanh Tam has always been one of the school's outstanding students with many good grades, maintaining her 11-year record as an excellent student, achieving high results in excellent student competitions at all levels.

Student Ha Thi Thanh Tam, grade 11A, Phu Yen Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities, Phu Yen district, Son La province: " In addition to the lectures in class, I also read books in the library, learn from my friends, if I don't understand any lesson, I will ask my teacher, I also refer to lectures online to achieve good results in my studies."

In 2019, Phu Yen Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities Boarding School invested in rebuilding the infrastructure system on a total area of ​​nearly 37,000 m2 with 77 spacious functional rooms, creating a favorable environment for training cadres and quality human resources for ethnic minority areas, especially in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.

In addition, with the preferential policies of the Party and State for boarding students such as 100% tuition exemption; 100% support for monthly meals with 3 meals/day; support for personal items, school supplies, health care... have contributed to reducing the financial burden, helping ethnic minority students go to school.

With the characteristic of all students living in boarding schools, the school always pays attention to building a comprehensive educational environment, harmoniously combining the improvement of teaching and learning quality with the organization of boarding life with the motto "School is home, teachers are parents, friends are brothers"; educating students in the spirit of mutual support and helping each other in studying; focusing on education of life skills, social knowledge, physical training in the spirit of "all for dear students".

Teacher Le Thi Ngan - Phu Yen Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities : " Especially for ethnic minority students, their language, gestures, and behavior are sometimes shy and awkward. We also have to learn skills so that when interacting with them, we can be closer to them, so that they have more confidence, are not shy when sharing with teachers, and can share their thoughts and feelings with teachers."

From the 2023-2024 school year up to now, the school has 27 excellent teachers , including 5 provincial-level excellent teachers ; more than 200 excellent students at all levels, including 20 provincial-level excellent students ; in the provincial science and technology competition, the school won 1 second prize, 01 third prize , 01 consolation prize ; the above results are vivid proof of the effectiveness of the boarding school model for ethnic minorities that our Party and State have given to ethnic minority students.

Through the process of construction and development, Phu Yen Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities has become a “common home” for many generations of ethnic minority students. It is also this boarding education environment that has “given the way” for many ethnic minority students to reach success, and then they have become engineers, doctors, soldiers… devoting their youth and intelligence to contributing and building their homeland./.
