(Quang Ngai Newspaper) - The Government has just issued Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP dated February 5, 2025 on growth targets for industries, sectors and localities to ensure the national growth target in 2025 reaches 8% or more. In particular, the Government assigned the growth target of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) for Quang Ngai to be 8.5%.
The GRDP growth target assigned by Resolution 25 to Quang Ngai is not high compared to the target assigned by the Provincial People's Council in Resolution No. 67/NQ-HDND dated December 11, 2024 on the socio-economic development plan (SEDP) for 2025: 7.5 - 8.5%. However, achieving the growth target of 8.5% in the current context is really not simple, requiring great determination and efforts from all levels, sectors, and local authorities in the province.
2025 is a year of special significance, a year of acceleration, breakthrough, finishing, the final year of implementing the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021 - 2025. This is also the year from the central to local levels to carry out the revolution in streamlining the organizational apparatus, hold party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party and prepare and consolidate the fundamental factors, creating a premise for our country to confidently enter a new era - the era of striving to develop richly and prosperously for the nation; towards successfully implementing the goals of the 10-year Socio-Economic Development Strategy 2021 - 2030. Meanwhile, the world and regional situation in 2025 is forecast to continue to develop very complicatedly and unpredictably. The global economy will recover slowly, unevenly, lack stability, and risks will increase. Our country's economy is forecast to maintain positive growth momentum, with opportunities, advantages and difficulties, and challenges intertwined, but with more difficulties and challenges.
To successfully implement the 2025 growth target set out in Resolution 25 of the Government, in addition to the efforts of central ministries and branches, the Government requests the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to urgently direct research and review of new resources, driving forces, capacities for growth and implementation solutions, and report to the People's Councils at the same level in February 2025 to adjust the local GRDP growth target (in case the People's Council has decided on a lower growth target than the target in Resolution 25), in order to thoroughly grasp and organize synchronous, comprehensive and effective implementation.
For Quang Ngai, in 2024, the GRDP growth rate will reach 4.07%; the economic scale is estimated at more than 132 trillion VND, up 4.1%, ranking 2nd/5 in the Central Central sub-region, 4th/14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions and 24th/63 provinces and cities nationwide. With such a large economic scale, achieving a growth rate of 8.5% in 2025 is a big challenge, all levels and sectors need to be highly determined, make great efforts and take more drastic actions.
At the working session with the Standing Committee of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee on the implementation of tasks in 2024; goals, tasks and main solutions in 2025 on February 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Quang Ngai to renew its thinking and development vision, exploit internal resources to the maximum, especially promoting historical and cultural traditions; forming dynamic regions as locomotives for development. At the same time, focus on renewing traditional growth drivers and new growth drivers such as circular economy, knowledge economy, green economy; promote the effectiveness of VSIP Quang Ngai Industrial Park to mobilize resources for development.
