The house of Ms. Dang Thi Lan in Hung Thuy hamlet, Loc Thinh commune has been degraded for many years, and is currently being urgently constructed to be handed over and put into use. Looking at the house with the floor paved, corrugated iron roof, ceiling lining, repainting, and many other items being repaired, Ms. Lan could not hide her joy and emotion. Ms. Lan said: My family is a policy beneficiary, previously considered for building a charity house. After many years of use, the house has seriously degraded, so I applied for support to repair the house. Luckily, I was supported in the category of removing temporary houses and dilapidated houses this time with a budget of 50 million VND. The state supported the money, my family did not have more money to contribute, but my sons are construction workers, so they contributed to the repair, saving costs and doing more items. Old age, weak health, often sick, I am very happy to receive support from the State to repair my house this time, grateful to the Party, State and local government for caring about policy families, helping me have a solid house in my old age.

Implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, from the beginning of the year, Loc Ninh district has directed communes to conduct a comprehensive review of poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households, and policy families. Ms. Nguyen Quynh Mai, a cultural and social officer at the People's Committee of Loc Thinh commune, said: There are no more poor or near-poor households in the commune, so this time the locality has selected two policy households, Mr. Pham Xuan Khe (disabled soldier) and Ms. Dang Thi Lan (resistance war activist) to support the repair of temporary and dilapidated houses. Up to now, the two households have basically finished repairing their houses.

Having suffered a stroke, her mobility and communication skills were limited, but when asked about the joy of receiving the house “Warm home for my people”, Ms. Lien could not hide her emotions: “Previously, the house was leaking, the walls were rotten, the floor was sinking… it was not safe. Luckily, my family was surveyed by the local government and selected to support the cost of repairing the house.
