ANTD.VN - The Ministry of Finance has just issued a quick report to the Government on the market price situation on January 29, 2025 (the first day of the Lunar New Year).
There are still some spontaneous parking spots with high prices.
According to the report, the market supply and demand situation on January 29, 2025 (the first day of the Lunar New Year) did not have any unusual price changes.
Specifically, on the first day of the Lunar New Year, most markets, supermarkets, and shopping malls are closed for the Tet holiday. Only Aeon Mall and Gigamall are still open to serve the city's residents, with service hours from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Ho Chi Minh City, most of the stalls at the three wholesale and retail markets are closed for Tet, only a few small traders are open to sell, mainly vegetables, fruits... The number of customers coming to the market is very low to buy more missing products such as herbs, spices...
Besides, some convenience store systems such as Family Mart, GS25, Kingfood Mart... operate throughout Tet, still open 24/7.
Because most distribution systems stopped operating and people did not have the need to buy goods on the first day of Tet, the market had very few buying and selling transactions.
On the first day of the new year, people mainly go to wish a happy new year, go out and worship at temples and pagodas. The basic motorbike parking fee remains unchanged from normal days at 5,000 VND. In some small temples and pagodas, there are some spontaneous parking spots with the price of 10,000 - 20,000 VND/vehicle, although not many.
Car parking prices at many spontaneous locations range from 50,000-100,000 VND/car/turn.
Commodity prices are relatively stable before and after Lunar New Year. |
In Hanoi, prices on the first day of Tet are generally stable without any unusual fluctuations. Almost all shops and markets are closed on the first day of Tet, with only a few small retailers selling mainly fresh vegetables or fish, because on the first day of Tet, people go to wish each other a happy new year, so there is no need to buy or sell.
Prices of goods are still higher than usual, however, the number of purchases has decreased significantly. In addition, some grocery stores are still open to sell toys, beer, and candy to people who want to buy things to celebrate Tet or buy incense to burn at communal houses, temples, and pagodas in the area, but there are not many transactions. In general, the prices of dry goods, soft drinks, and beer have not increased compared to previous days.
Due to the mentality of having enough shopping for the whole year, the first day is a day of rest, families gather to burn incense, worship at home, not shopping at the market. Only large shopping centers such as Aeon Mall in Long Bien and Ha Dong are still open from the first day to serve the shopping and entertainment activities of the city's residents.
Many supermarkets reopen from today
Forecasting market prices on the second day of Tet, the Ministry of Finance said that there will be no unusual fluctuations in prices because the demand for shopping on the first day of the year is not high, most people have shopped and stocked up before Tet.
The supply of goods is still sufficient to meet demand because in major provinces and cities, some supermarkets and stores serve throughout Tet such as Aeon Mall from the first day and some large supermarket chains such as Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, BigC and Go! only close on the first day of Tet and reopen on the second day of Tet, with operating hours from 8am to 10pm to serve people's need to buy essential goods, ensuring that the supply chain is not interrupted, helping people to easily shop in the first days of the new year.
The fact that supermarket systems maintain operations throughout Tet has had a positive impact on the market, helping to maintain an abundant supply of goods, always ready to meet people's shopping needs when traditional markets are temporarily closed for Tet.
It is forecasted that the prices of essential goods will be relatively stable due to low demand. According to the rule of the first days of the New Year, people mainly go to spiritual areas and large entertainment venues across the country, which will attract a large number of visitors to visit and have fun, so it is forecasted that the prices of services such as private parking, food and beverage services and incense offerings may increase slightly compared to normal days due to increased labor costs during the Tet holiday.
Some carbonated soft drinks, beer and soft drinks near tourist attractions run by small businesses serving the needs of spring tourists may increase in price.
The Ministry of Finance recommends that ministries, branches and localities continue to closely monitor the supply and demand developments and market prices of goods under their management, especially essential goods and those with high fluctuations and price increases in the area, to proactively develop plans to ensure a balance of goods to meet people's consumption needs, stabilize the market, and avoid shortages, disruptions in goods sources, and sudden price increases.
