Many opportunities for rural tourism development

Since the opening of the Dau Giay – Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet – Vinh Hao expressways, the number of visitors to Tuy Phong has increased significantly on weekends. In addition to the spiritual tourist destination of Co Thach Pagoda, Tuy Phong has many new attractions that leave an impression on visitors, especially rural tourism.

Main Destinations

A group of young people in Ho Chi Minh City who just had a 4-day, 3-night trip to Tuy Phong felt very excited about the destinations here, because of the wildness, freshness and simplicity. After visiting Co Thach Pagoda, the group took a canoe to Hon Cau Marine Reserve, an indispensable place on the journey to Tuy Phong. Although they were not used to the hot weather of the sea, the freshness of Hon Cau, the random formation of giant rocks nestled next to the clear turquoise water captivated the young group of tourists.

On the second day, the adventurers chose the Ta Nang - Phan Dung route as their next destination. Because the group will stay one night in the forest, this discovery tour has a tour organizer to help ensure safety and tents, food and drinks as well as directions. Tuan - a member of the group shared: "Because we have to walk through the forest and pass for more than 20 km, everyone is tired. However, witnessing the majestic nature here with our own eyes, the cool green grass hills appearing like a springtime steppe, the fresh air of the plateau and the cool breezes, eased the hardships and difficulties of the whole group. Only by experiencing it directly can you see how wonderful nature is." On the last day in Tuy Phong, the group visited Phuoc The vineyard, Phong Phu apple orchard, and saw how farmers produce and process products in an organic way. In addition, during their trip, the group visited Binh Thanh night market, enjoyed fresh seafood, ate many local snacks, enjoyed swimming in the sea and "checked in" at the 7-color rock beach. According to the group's comments, although the service was not professional, the destinations were quite interesting, suitable for many different types of tourists.

In the near future, these key destinations will be promoted by local authorities, associated with advantages in agriculture, culture, and ecological environment. In addition, owners of rural tourism establishments here will be trained in tourism management; 50% of rural tourism destinations will apply electronic transactions in tourism activities; 50% of rural tourism workers will be trained and improved in their professional skills and tourist service skills, of which at least 50% are female workers. These are the goals set by Tuy Phong authorities to promote rural tourism development, contributing to improving the quality of material and spiritual life of rural people, shifting the rural economic structure towards multi-value integration and sustainable development.

Development strategy

By 2025, Tuy Phong aims to welcome an average number of tourists in the period of 2021 - 2025 to increase by 8.45%, with an average stay of 2 - 3 days/person. According to the People's Committee of Tuy Phong district, the special support mechanisms and policies for the district have attracted much attention from strategic investors in infrastructure and tourism. The district has mobilized many capital sources for investment in tourism development, especially in coastal and sea areas. Tuy Phong has built and coordinated with departments, branches and sectors to implement a vision for the restoration of heritages, relics and religious tourism sites in the area. Invest, upgrade and expand key and essential tourist areas in line with the policies and guidelines set forth by the locality.

Organize training classes and short-term courses on vocational skills and tourism service skills.

To achieve that goal, the District People's Committee has proposed many specific solutions. It will mobilize, integrate and effectively use resources for rural tourism development: social resources, funding from international cooperation organizations, investment from enterprises, agricultural cooperation organizations, community contributions (finance, labor, etc.) and other legal sources for rural tourism development. In addition, priority will be given to allocating capital from the state budget for human resource training, developing the system of technical infrastructure for the tourism industry in rural areas in line with market orientation. Promote propaganda, raise awareness, change the thinking and actions of Party committees, authorities, officials, organizations, individuals doing tourism business, people, communities and tourists on sustainable rural tourism development in new rural construction.
