Replicating effective economic models

In Tho Xuan district, the model of raising colored chickens is no longer strange to people, because this is a breed that is less susceptible to diseases, adapts quickly to the living environment, can be raised industrially, semi-industrially, and in the garden, bringing higher economic efficiency than other chicken breeds. From small-scale farming models, up to now, the district's colored chicken flocks have been expanded to Quang Phu and Xuan Truong communes... with many models having a total flock of up to thousands of chickens. Currently, this model is invested by people to build a solid, closed barn system, apply disease prevention and control measures, raise according to VietGAHP process, raise on biological bedding to protect the environment...

Ms. Do Thi Men, a resident of Quang Phu commune, said: “In the process of raising chickens, I use biological bedding to prevent some diseases caused by bacteria; install a fan system to keep the air fresh, minimizing odors; install heat sinks, automatic roof sprinkler systems when the weather is hot, and have automatic feeding and drinking trough systems suitable for each stage of chicken development... In addition, I produce organic bran from corn, soybeans, rice bran, fish... fermented to use as chicken feed. To create green space, limit environmental pollution as well as create shade for chickens to exercise, I intercrop trees on the farm.”

According to Ms. Men, many households inside and outside the commune have come to learn from her experience in raising chickens, because this is a model suitable for people's production conditions, low investment capital, raised chickens rarely get sick, survival rate reaches 97%, has stable output...

Currently, the model of raising colored chickens is quite popular in localities with conditions for livestock development such as Yen Dinh, Vinh Loc, Tho Xuan, Thuong Xuan, Nhu Xuan districts... Most households are aware of disease prevention, environmental protection, vaccination; focus on investing in building barns, preparing equipment and tools for raising livestock, selecting breeds and care techniques...

In cultivation, many models have been learned from experience by people to replicate such as growing safe vegetables, fruit trees, Kim Hoang Hau melon, cucumber, squash... bringing high economic efficiency, changing production practices, contributing to creating jobs for local workers. In Xuan Hoa commune (Nhu Xuan), after a trial period, people realized that squash is a plant suitable for the land, the fruit has a dense, fragrant core, is easy to preserve and is suitable for long-distance transportation, so it is very easy to consume. If the planting and care process is carried out properly, it will bring high productivity, so the commune has expanded the area to 30 hectares; the products are ordered by traders in the fields and consumed at the wholesale market.

For the green squash production models in Cam Thuy, Nhu Xuan, Nhu Thanh, Hoang Hoa districts... have opened up prospects in implementing the transformation of crop structure. In Hoang Luu commune (Hoang Hoa), Ms. Le Thi Ngai, one of the pioneer households developing the green squash growing model, said: "Green squash has become a crop chosen by many households in the commune to grow to improve production efficiency, forming a concentrated green squash production area with a yield of 7 quintals/ha, economic efficiency 3 times higher than rice cultivation"...

From the effectiveness of agricultural production models that are being replicated, localities continue to promote land accumulation and concentration, and convert ineffective crop areas to experimental crops and livestock with high productivity, quality, and economic efficiency. Every year, the agricultural service centers of the districts also focus on organizing training courses and transferring new science and technology in cultivation, livestock farming, and aquaculture to the people. To develop sustainable production models, localities will continue to encourage, support, and guide people to build agricultural production models; prioritize production models according to VietGAP standards, apply science and technology, and disease-safe livestock farming... especially developing models associated with production linkages and product consumption. However, people need to learn to build models suitable to production conditions, not to replicate them massively; Research and learn new models to apply in production to improve efficiency.
