Pioneer of AI robot brain surgery in Vietnam

Master, Doctor, CKII Chu Tan Si - Head of Neurosurgery Department, Center for Neuroscience, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City - is the first person to perform brain and spinal cord surgery using AI robot.

Thanks to AI robotic brain and spinal cord surgery technology, many patients have been saved and given new lives.

He has performed more than 12,000 neurological and cranial surgeries in the past 30 years. 100 successful brain tumor, spinal cord tumor, and hemorrhagic stroke surgeries in the past year thanks to AI robots are an important step forward in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

These are historic surgeries in his career.

Born into a family of eight children, his father was a driver and his mother was a market vendor. The boy who helped his mother deliver noodles in the morning and went to school in the afternoon has now become a leading expert in neurosurgery.

Although his childhood was difficult, his parents took good care of him. Luckily, his brother, a medical school lecturer, guided him to pursue this passion.

Talking about the gains and losses that the medical profession has brought him, he said: "A full life, position and family are all brought by this profession. I met and got married in the hospital, my two children also work in the medical profession, my daughter-in-law is also in the same profession, I have gained too much.

As for loss, it's just time. I spend too much time on work, but luckily my wife and children are sympathetic and understanding."

Being close to colleagues, sharing experiences and supporting the next generation is a daily routine for Dr. Chu Tan Si (right).
