On the evening of November 18, Tay Ho District Police (Hanoi) said that at around 10:20 a.m. the same day, Mr. Nguyen Trung (born in 1959, group 45, Yen Hoa Ward, Cau Giay) went to Yen Phu Ward Police Station (Tay Ho District) to report that he had picked up a black handbag.
Checking inside the bag, there were 5,135 USD, 1,180 HK dollars, 9,000 Yuan, 3 credit cards, 2 Chinese passports in the names of Xiao Shulin (born 1966) and Guan Shuming (born 1972) and some other personal belongings. The total value of the assets was more than 500 million VND.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Tay Ho District Police Command directed forces to coordinate with Yen Phu Ward Police to verify and find the owner.
As a result, the police invited Mr. Guan Shuming and Mr. Xiao Shulin, two Chinese citizens, to the police headquarters to receive their property.
It is known that these two people came to Vietnam for tourism, when visiting Tran Quoc Pagoda, in Yen Phu ward, they forgot their bags containing the above objects and assets.
Having received all their property back, the Chinese citizens wrote a thank you letter to the Hanoi City Police, expressing their deep gratitude to Mr. Nguyen Trung - the person who found the property and appreciating the sense of responsibility of the officers and soldiers of Yen Phu Ward Police who wholeheartedly helped them get their property back.
According to the police, Mr. Nguyen Trung's act of "picking up lost property and returning it to its owner" is a shining example of honesty and humanity that needs to be commended and spread widely throughout the community.
