GĐXH - Before having a stroke, this man walked out of the bathroom in a state of staggering, dizziness, severe headache and weak limbs...
According to information from Chen Deyuan, a neurosurgeon at E-Da Hospital, China, doctors recently received and treated a young patient who suffered a stroke right after stepping out of the bathroom.
It is known that the male patient (30 years old) went to take a warm bath on the day of the incident. While bathing, this young man felt very comfortable and relaxed, but immediately after stepping out of the bathroom, he felt dizzy, lightheaded and had a severe headache.

He quickly sat down to rest, then found that his right arm and right leg were weak. Although he wanted to call his family for help, he felt as if an egg was stuck in his throat, which he could not explain clearly.
Fortunately, his family discovered it early and rushed him to the emergency room. Test results showed that his blood pressure had increased to over 200/0 mmHg and that a blood vessel in his brain had ruptured. The doctor determined that the patient had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke.
The doctor said he was lucky not to be rushed to the emergency room during the "golden hour" but his life was still in danger. After more than a week of treatment, he was transferred to the intensive care unit for further treatment and monitoring.
Why does hot bath increase the risk of stroke?
Doctors point out that in low temperature environments or large temperature differences, blood vessels will constrict. If blood pressure is not well controlled, it will increase the risk of stroke and should not be careless.
In the case of the man above, the stroke occurred because he was taking a hot bath, his body temperature increased, and then he stepped barefoot on the cold floor. His patient was very young, so he did not usually measure his blood pressure at home.
Doctors recommend that in addition to keeping warm in cold weather, you should also avoid being in environments with large temperature differences, such as when you wake up from a warm bed in the morning, never step directly onto the floor with bare feet, as this will stimulate vasoconstriction.

What happens to your body when you take hot baths regularly?
- For men, hot water can affect fertility because it damages sperm cells. Men who take cold showers can slightly increase sperm count.
- A study shows that taking hot baths in extremely cold climates can increase the risk of cardiac arrest.
- Hot water strips moisture from the skin and causes the skin surface to become dry, flaky, cracked and damaged.
- Hot water can cause sudden changes in blood pressure because the temperature of the water will cause vasodilation. Therefore, your heart has to work harder to pump blood, which can be detrimental to people with cardiovascular diseases.
- For some people, hot water can make them feel dizzy, this is due to the changes that occur due to changes in blood pressure.
To be safe, you should only bathe in hot water at 37-40 degrees Celsius every day to help you relax your muscles, eliminate toxins from your body and regain your calm. In case your body is tired and wants to soak, you should only soak for no more than 10 minutes.
