The People's Committee of Quynh Luu district has issued decisions to fine 3 fishing vessels in the area. Of which, the sea fishing vessel with registration number NA-99995-TS owned by the owner Tran Van N. in hamlet 6, Son Hai commune (Quynh Luu), residing in Thanh Cong village, Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) was fined 24 million VND for not complying with regulations in case the fishing vessel's journey monitoring device was broken.

Third, the vessel with license plate NA -95079-TS owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Th. in Hamlet 3, Son Hai Commune, Quynh Luu District was fined 20 million VND for the error of disabling the journey monitoring device during operations at sea for fishing vessels with a maximum length of 15 - 24 meters.

In addition to the monetary penalty, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district also imposed an additional penalty of revoking the captain's certificate for 3 months on Captain Ngo Van C. and Nguyen Van T., both residing in Hamlet 3, Son Hai Commune, Quynh Luu District.

After nearly 3 years, Nghe An has handled 7 fishing vessels that violated the VMS disconnection with a fine of 170 million VND, the rest have only been recorded for verification and reminders, and the Standing Committee of the National IUU Steering Committee has issued a telegram reminding, so the Provincial People's Committee directed the classification and handling of the group of vessels that lost connection in 2023, the districts will review the records, issue decisions to completely punish cases that are still within the time limit and statute of limitations, complete and report to the Provincial People's Committee before March 26, 2024.

The representative of the Provincial Border Guard Command also added: Regarding the group of ships that lost connection in 2024, in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in handling the behavior of losing connection to VMS journeys, especially in the peak months from now to April 2024, implementing the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang at the meeting on the afternoon of February 5, 2024, on the basis of the assignment of the Provincial People's Committee, the Border Guard force will preside over, inspect, verify, handle or advise competent authorities to handle the behavior of losing connection to VMS; the spirit is to resolutely and thoroughly handle violations of losing connection for more than 10 days./.
