Russia continues airstrikes on Starokostiantyniv base
On July 12, SF reported that the Russian military launched a missile and drone attack targeting the western Khmelnytskyi region and other areas of Ukraine on the night of July 11.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, five Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles and 19 Geran suicide drones were used by the Russian military in the attack.

The main target of the attack was the Starokostiantyniv Air Base, the Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement. At the same time, the Ukrainian Air Force said it shot down all five missiles and 11 of the 19 drones.
However, according to SF, explosions were still reported at the airbase as well as in the capital Kiev and several other areas.
Starokostiantyniv Air Base is the headquarters of the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force. It is mainly used by Soviet-made Su-24 tactical bombers. These Su-24s are responsible for carrying out attacks with British-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles and French-made SCALP cruise missiles. Previously, the Russian military has repeatedly attacked Starokostiantyniv Air Base.
In recent weeks, the Russian military has stepped up attacks on Ukrainian air bases. Russian precision strikes have destroyed or damaged several Ukrainian Air Force fighter jets.
The attacks were aimed at wearing down the Ukrainian Armed Forces' equipment as well as sending a warning as Kiev prepares to receive US-made F-16 fighter jets from NATO.
Many NATO weapons supplied to Ukraine were destroyed by Russia.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, from July 6 to 12, tactical-operational aviation, drones, missile and artillery teams of Russian groups of forces eliminated 7 US-made M142 HIMARS high-mobility rocket launchers, 4 S-300PS air defense missile launchers with a radar, 3 HAWK air defense missile systems (US-made) and 2 Patriot air defense missile launchers with radar (US-made).

Also during this time, the Russian Air Defense Forces intercepted 4 US-made ATACMS tactical missiles, 3 UK-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles, 17 French-made Hammer guided bombs, a US-made HARM high-speed anti-radar missile; 28 missiles launched from the US-made HIMARS system and the Czech-made Vampire; 308 unmanned aircraft.

According to data reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense, since the start of the special military campaign, the Russian army has destroyed 627 aircraft, 277 helicopters, 27,536 drones, 546 air defense missile systems, 16,560 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,376 combat vehicles equipped with multiple rocket launchers, 11,768 field guns and mortars, and 23,597 special military equipment.
