To ensure a stable and safe power source to serve the daily life and production of people and businesses, the Phu Yen Electricity sector has paid special attention to investing in upgrading the power grid. Recently, the Phu Hoa 110kV transformer station has been completed and put into use, contributing to the completion of the rural power grid infrastructure in the district.
Effort to complete
Previously, the 22kV power source serving the socio-economic development needs of the entire Phu Hoa district was supplied from two 110kV transformer stations Tuy Hoa and Son Hoa. Therefore, in adverse weather conditions such as rain, wind, storms, floods, etc., the power grid is prone to problems, causing the power supply to the locality to be interrupted or have prolonged power outages, affecting people's lives and production. In addition, because the power supply radius is wide, power loss and difficulties in grid management and operation are inevitable.
To overcome these problems, in 2021, the Central Power Corporation deployed the Phu Hoa 110kV transformer station project. The project is built on an area of nearly 4,900m² in Phu Hoa town, with a scale including: 110/22kV transformer station with a capacity of 2x40MVA (in this phase, 1 110/22kV-1x40MVA transformer will be installed); 4 110kV transmission lines with a length of nearly 11.2km, connecting to Tuy Hoa 110kV transformer station, Son Giang Hydropower Plant and Tuy Hoa 220kV transformer station; 5 22kV transmission lines connecting to the existing power system with a total length of nearly 3.1km; the communication system establishes a remote protection transmission channel for 110kV lines directly connected by fiber optic cable. The project has a total investment of more than 157 billion VND from a loan from the German Reconstruction Bank and counterpart capital from the Central Power Corporation.
After 3 years of implementation, at the end of January 2025, all items of the project were accepted, energized and put into operation. According to the Central Power Grid Project Management Board, the project management unit, during the construction process, the project encountered many difficulties due to climatic conditions, frequent rains and floods, affecting the implementation progress. However, with the high determination of Phu Yen Electricity Company, the Central Power Grid Project Management Board and related units, the project was completed on schedule, ensuring its operation, serving local people and businesses and neighboring areas.
Mr. Le Huu Danh, Deputy General Director of the Central Power Corporation, said: The 110kV Phu Hoa transformer station is designed as an unmanned station model, equipped with a remote control system, monitoring, metering, security camera system, automatic fire prevention and fighting system, ensuring safe and efficient operation according to current standards. This project is also an important step in the roadmap for developing a smart grid in the region.
Meet local load development needs
According to Director of Phu Hoa Power Company Tran Ngoc Phuoc, before the Phu Hoa 110kV Transformer Station was put into operation, Phu Hoa district loads received electricity from the Tuy Hoa 110kV Transformer Station through many feeders with a long power supply radius, which affected the quality of electricity and the reliability of power supply. From the end of January 2025, the Phu Hoa 110kV Transformer Station was put into operation to help solve all the long-standing problems.
“The transformer station operates right on the occasion of Tet, when the demand for electricity increases, providing a stable, reliable and safe power source, meeting the demand for electricity for cultural and artistic activities to serve people during the spring festival,” said Mr. Phuoc.
Mr. Huynh Quoc Long, Director of Phu Yen Electricity Company, said: The investment in Phu Hoa 110kV transformer station has reduced the power supply radius and ensured reliability, reduced losses, and created a stable power supply for Phu Hoa district. When constructing the 110kV transformer station, the Electricity sector also re-arranged and re-routed the 110kV power grid system, ensuring its permanence, not cutting across the town, serving the construction and development of Phu Hoa town in the future.
Currently, Phu Yen has 10 110kV transformer stations in operation, helping to improve the reliability of power supply, reduce power loss and ensure safe and stable power supply in all conditions. With the completion and commissioning of large and key investment projects, the power grid in the province has been increasingly improved and developed, better meeting the socio-economic development needs of the province.
In 2025 and the coming years, the Central Power Corporation will continue to prioritize investment in the power grid to meet the socio-economic development requirements of Phu Yen. In the first quarter of 2025, the Central Power Corporation plans to energize the Song Hinh 110kV transformer station and will implement the Phu Yen province power grid renovation project in 2025.
