In 2024, despite many difficulties and challenges due to the impact of weather conditions and natural disasters (especially storm No. 3 - Yagi), however, with efforts and struggles, many targets of the agricultural sector of Bac Giang province were completed and exceeded the plan.

In 2024, production value will reach 39,334 billion VND
In 2024, the provincial agricultural sector will carry out its tasks in difficult and challenging conditions due to the impact of weather conditions and natural disasters (especially storm No. 3 Yagi), the output of agricultural products will decrease, the growth rate of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors will not reach the set target. However, with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, the close coordination of all levels and sectors; the efforts and strivings of the agricultural sector, businesses and farmers in the province, the agricultural sector has overcome difficulties, promoted the development of crops and livestock, and compensated for crops and livestock affected by weather and natural disasters. The total production value of the sector in 2024 will reach 39,334 billion VND, equal to 94% of the plan compared to 2023. The agricultural production value/01 ha of production land will reach 138 million VND/ha, reaching 100% of the plan.
In 2024, the crop structure continues to transform, many key crops develop towards large-scale production, with cooperation and linkage in the value chain; the application of technical advances and advanced production processes such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP... is maintained. The area of quality rice expands, reaching 47.6 thousand hectares, an increase of 2.1 thousand hectares; the area of safe vegetables produced according to VietGAP standards reaches 57.9%, an increase of 1.9%; the area of intensive fruit tree production according to VietGAP standards reaches 60.4%, an increase of 7.4% compared to 2023. Crops with high economic value develop towards commodity production; a number of concentrated vegetable and fruit production areas are formed, linking production with product consumption.

In the livestock sector, by the end of 2024, the province's pig, poultry and buffalo herds will increase, of which the buffalo herd will be 28.5 thousand, up 4.0%; the pig herd will be 890 thousand, up 4.4%, the poultry herd will be 20.6 million, up 7%,... The livestock production value (at current prices) will increase by 5.3%, contributing 50.4% of the total production value of the industry, being the main driving force for the growth of the entire agricultural sector.
In the field of aquaculture production, the agricultural sector has focused on ensuring seed sources for production, guiding people to restore aquaculture, and maintaining stable fish stocks after storm No. 3. In 2024, the whole province produced 332 million fish seeds, an increase of 10.6% compared to the plan; the specialized farming area reached 6,120 hectares, reaching 100% of the plan, an increase of 1.0% compared to 2023; the intensive farming area reached 1,950 hectares, reaching 102.6% of the plan, an increase of 5.4% compared to 2023; over 100 hectares of aquaculture area applied automation technology. The price of commercial fish is always stable, ensuring income for aquaculture farmers.
The forestry sector achieved many results, with production value (calculated at current prices) reaching VND 2,340 billion, up 5.5% compared to 2023. Attention was paid to the management of forestry plant varieties, closely monitoring the origin of the varieties when they were put into nursery. Production facilities produced nearly 44.4 million seedlings, ensuring sufficient seed sources for afforestation and scattered tree planting; the proportion of seedlings produced by tissue culture accounted for 70.5%. The whole province planted 11,000 hectares of concentrated forests, reaching 137.5% of the plan, over 7.2 million scattered trees, reaching 112.8% of the plan; the output of exploited timber was 1.4 million m³, reaching 140% of the plan.
Regarding irrigation, dykes, and natural disaster prevention, in 2024, localities in the province will do a good job of managing, maintaining, exploiting, and ensuring the safety of 1,300 irrigation works. Timely advise the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to prepare early, from afar, closely following the direction of the Central Government, in the work of preventing and fighting storm No. 3 and post-storm circulation; direct localities to flexibly, creatively, and effectively implement the "four on-site" motto, mobilizing the participation of the entire political system, armed forces, people of all walks of life, and businesses, thereby significantly reducing the damage caused by storms and floods.
Along with that, implementing the New Rural Development Program, by the end of 2024, the whole province will have 24 more communes meeting the New Rural Development, advanced and model standards (including 05 New Rural Development communes, 12 advanced New Rural Development communes, 7 model New Rural Development communes), exceeding the plan by 14.3%; there will be 79 more model New Rural Development villages, exceeding the plan by 12.5%; the average number of criteria in the whole province will reach 18.0 criteria/commune, an increase of 0.2 criteria compared to 2023. By the end of 2024, the whole province will have 385 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, an increase of 95 products compared to 2023, exceeding the plan by 10 products.

Strive for a growth rate of 3.8% in the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production by 2025.
2025 is a year of special importance, the final year to accelerate and break through to the finish line to implement the goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025, creating momentum for agricultural development in the 2026-2030 period.
On that basis, the Department of Agriculture of Bac Giang province aims to strive for a growth rate of 3.8% in the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production by 2025. Total grain output reaches 595,520 tons. Average production value per hectare of agricultural land reaches 140 million VND/ha; total aquatic product output reaches 58 thousand tons. Striving to plant 10 thousand hectares of concentrated forests; output of timber exploitation from planted forests reaches 1.0 million m³; forest coverage rate is 37.5%. The whole province has 2 more communes meeting NTM standards, 6 communes meeting advanced NTM standards, 3 communes meeting model NTM standards and Tan Yen district meeting advanced NTM standards.
To achieve the above goal, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province continues to innovate thinking in leadership, direction and operation; quickly shift the thinking of agricultural production to agricultural economy associated with market demand. Effectively organize the implementation of mechanisms and policies issued by the Central and the province related to the agricultural sector, especially policies on land, cooperatives, seeds, production linkage, support for agricultural, forestry and fishery development, the One Commune One Product program, etc.
Promote restructuring of the agricultural sector towards modernity and sustainability based on the foundation of developing high-tech agriculture, circular agriculture, multi-value agriculture, emission reduction, sustainable development, adaptation to climate change and digital transformation; increase attraction of large enterprises to invest in agricultural production and processing. Maintain stability in the crop sector, focus on promoting room for development in the livestock, aquaculture and forestry sectors, in which the livestock sector is the main growth driver.
Continue to convert the crop structure on inefficient rice land to other crops with higher markets and income. Develop concentrated, large-scale agricultural production areas, organize chain production for key products. Expand the area of quality rice production, safe vegetables, and lychee production according to VietGap and GlobalGap standards. Strictly manage the use of growing area codes and fresh fruit packaging facility codes for export. Promote the development of circular economic models; apply science and technology, mechanization in agricultural production. Strengthen inspection, monitoring, forecasting, and pest control. Strictly control fertilizer production and trading facilities.
At the same time, improve the quality of forecasting and warning of natural disasters; promote the application of information technology in natural disaster prevention and control. Flexibly, creatively and effectively implement the "4 on-site" motto in natural disaster prevention and control. Complete the system of dykes and dikes and develop scenarios for flood prevention, control, and flood distribution for the system of dykes and dikes in the province; coordinate with localities to focus on handling landslides to ensure safety for people.
Continue to build the new rural areas in depth, effectively and sustainably, in conjunction with the urbanization process and the process of arranging administrative units; prioritize resources to implement the new rural villages in particularly difficult communes; promote the construction of advanced and model new rural areas in communes that have met the standards. Focus on completing the disbursement of allocated capital on time. Overcome the situation of rural environmental pollution in the direction of green, clean and beautiful./.
