Corn area damaged by yellow-backed bamboo locusts in Khau Tinh commune (Na Hang).
The average locust density is 20-30 individuals/ m2 , with high points up to 50-70 individuals/m2, locally >400 individuals/ m2 . This is a pest that can move quickly, has great destructive power and is difficult to control when it is old.
A large number of golden-backed bamboo worms were eradicated.
It is forecasted that in the coming time, locust eggs will continue to hatch, by the end of May and early June, locusts will enter the adult stage, capable of moving quickly and causing severe damage to agricultural crops (corn, rice) of the summer-autumn crop if not prevented in time. To isolate, control, and minimize the spread of bamboo locusts into an epidemic, the Na Hang District Agricultural Service Center and the Khau Tinh Commune People's Committee have organized spraying of pesticides.
