On August 5, a delegation of foreign press stationed in Vietnam visited and experienced famous tourist attractions on Ly Son Island, Quang Ngai Province such as Hang Pagoda, To Vo Gate, Hoang Sa Fleet Exhibition House...

The above activity is part of the program to promote tourist attractions in Quang Ngai province and introduce the Sa Huynh Cultural Special National Monument to foreign press agencies stationed in Vietnam. The program was organized by the Department of Press and Information (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs of Quang Ngai province from August 3-6.

Ly Son is an island district of Quang Ngai province, located about 30km from the shore. This island is famous for its special geological structure, from the phenomenon of volcanic eruptions and extinctions millions of years ago, creating many mysterious and captivating natural landscapes such as Hang Cau cliff, Hang Pagoda, To Vo gate, Gieng Tien crater, Thoi Loi...

The island is home to many traces of Sa Huynh residents 2,500 years ago. There are 30 geological and cultural heritage sites intertwined here. The unique geology and culture are of great significance in scientific research as well as in developing various types of tourism products on the island.

Hang Pagoda is located in the north of Thoi Loi Mountain, where a volcanic crater once formed a large lake. It is both a place to worship Buddha and the ancestors who contributed to reclaiming land and building villages on the island. The road to the pagoda winds around the mountainside and visitors can admire the grass fields, village scenery, and onion and garlic fields at the foot of the mountain. According to the tour guide, the notes of French archaeologist H. Parmentier, oral traditions among the people, and a few remaining vestiges show that Hang Pagoda was once a cave used by the Cham people as a place of residence or worship. (Photo: LC)
