Hope to soon complete the plan to develop 68 hectares of parks and public trees

As Thanh Nien reported, according to the Ministry of Construction, large cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Hai Phong are lacking green space. The ratio of land for public green trees in Ho Chi Minh City is only 0.55 m2 /person, while in Hanoi it is 2.06 m2 /person, Da Nang is 2.4 m2 /person, and Hai Phong is about 3.41 m2 /person, much lower than the special urban green space standard of about 15 m2 /person (according to TCVN 9257:2012).

Ngay cả khu đô thị mới Thủ Thiêm dù được quy hoạch, xây dựng bài bản nhưng cây xanh vẫn thiếu

Even though the new urban area of Thu Thiem is well planned and built, there is still a lack of trees.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the planned area of public parks is up to 11,400 hectares, with an average target of 7 square meters per person. However, a recent review shows that the park area is only over 500 hectares, equivalent to about 0.55 square meters per person, only 1/16 times that of Singapore (8 square meters of parks and trees per person).

In addition to developing 68 hectares of public parks, in this plan, Ho Chi Minh City also proposed 4 main groups of tasks and solutions.

One is park and green space development: investing in the construction of parks and public green spaces in housing development projects; reviewing and reclaiming the use and leasing of public land planned as park land for construction investment.

Second is to develop a plan to improve the street tree system; plant new and renovate urban trees.

Third is to improve the efficiency of management and exploitation of parks and trees by establishing and approving plans for the use of the total land area and detailed construction planning at a scale of 1/500 for each concentrated public park...

Fourth is to research and cooperate in development through coordination with domestic and foreign units to develop the field of green parks in the city.

Very practical

Many readers (BĐ) expressed their agreement with the plan to develop 68 hectares of parks and public trees in Ho Chi Minh City. BĐ TNND shared: "This action of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is very practical. Everyone needs trees; firstly for shade, secondly to eliminate CO₂ and convert it into oxygen, thirdly to create landscapes and be a place for people to play and exercise."

Sharing the same opinion, BĐ Dung Le Viet suggested: "The city's leaders need to put this issue on the list of urgent issues of the city so that it can be implemented soon. For example, the newly expanded road in District 8 is Ta Quang Buu, the sidewalk is still very small, not enough to plant trees. I hope that when the city and districts plan to expand the road or build a new road, they must design the sidewalks on both sides with enough area to plant trees."

Meanwhile, Danhvsg is impatient: "Why has the lack of trees been a problem for so long, but now efforts to add more trees are only in the "planning" stage? At this rate, when will there be more parks and trees?"

Join hands to plant and care for trees

BĐ Tiến Trung commented: "I strongly agree with the opinion of architect Trần Tuấn when he said: "... the city's issuance of a plan to build green parks is a good thing. However, to turn the plan into action, into real green works, there needs to be determination, determination and "iron" discipline of the city government at this time". That's right, the city must have great determination to implement it. Besides, it is necessary to increase propaganda, create conditions... so that businesses and people are more aware of planting and caring for trees in order to have more trees and green areas".

Sharing the same opinion, BĐ Hai Hoang said: "The scorching hot days in the city are still there, showing that covering trees and green areas is very necessary, and requires everyone's cooperation". BĐ Nguyen Van Thuy also commented: "Planting trees to standards needs to rely on the people's strength, people planting and have guidance from the state. When convincing the people, the people themselves will start planting, protecting, and taking care of trees... it will certainly be successful".

"I see trees planted on both sides of the road. But every time it's time, they're cut down for fear of falling down in the rain and wind. Especially on roads with electric poles and trees intertwined. Why not allow underground electricity to avoid tangled wires and falling trees during the rainy season?", BĐ with nickname CC2 commented.

Strongly support the tree planting plan of Ho Chi Minh City, it helps reduce heat in the dry season and prevents flooding in the rainy season.

Tu Linh

I hope the local government will step in and take drastic action, especially in dealing with encroachment on rivers, canals, and public land...

Thang Duc

Plant more trees and research to make sidewalks with bricks that have good water absorption gaps to increase surface drainage and increase groundwater levels to help trees grow...

Many virtues
