The climate and soil in the district are very favorable for many key crops such as coffee, pepper, durian, and short-term crops.

With large scale production, people's demand for fertilizer is also very large. Due to the large demand, there are many facilities, agents, and businesses trading in fertilizer in the area.

Most of the annual fertilizer used for production in Dak Nong is imported from other provinces and cities. This increases costs and causes a shortage of supply, especially at times when fertilizer demand is high.

In recent years, the Provincial People's Committee has been calling on large corporations and companies to invest in building factories and facilities to produce fertilizers and materials in the province to meet agricultural production needs.

Currently, the province has attracted Duc Giang Chemical Company Limited to invest in building Duc Giang - Dak Nong Fertilizer Factory. The factory has a capacity of 200,000 tons of fertilizer/year. In addition, many companies and enterprises are researching and surveying to invest in fertilizer production in Dak Nong.

The annual investment cost for fertilizer is very large, requiring farmers to consider and be careful in choosing the type, quantity, and quality suitable for their family's economic conditions.

This also requires great attention from authorities at all levels and functional sectors to ensure fertilizer quality and minimize the existence of fake and poor quality fertilizers.

Good quality fertilizer is a solid foundation for sustainable agricultural restructuring of the province. Good fertilizer contributes to improving the quality of the environment, soil, and water, meeting the criteria of safe and hygienic agricultural products, serving domestic and export needs.

Dak Nong Department of Agriculture assessed that the level of fertilizer use by many households is still high compared to the world average, and the mentality of abusing fertilizer is still quite common.
