Last year, the Tax sector continued to implement the policies of the National Assembly and the Government on supporting, exempting, reducing, and extending tax and land rent payments for businesses and business households. The amount of tax and land rent that people and businesses in the province were exempted, reduced, and extended was about 970 billion VND.
In early 2025, tax and fee exemption and reduction policies will continue to be implemented to support people and businesses to overcome difficulties and promote economic growth.
Timely support for businesses
According to Decree 64/2024/ND-CP dated June 17, 2024 of the Government, businesses, households and individuals doing business are granted an extension of the deadline for paying value-added tax, corporate income tax, personal income tax and land rent in 2024. The extension period ranges from 3-6 months depending on the type of tax. This policy helps units have more capital to maintain operations.
According to the General Department of Taxation, despite the impact of reduced revenue due to the implementation of tax reduction policies, extension of tax payment deadlines and land rents, the application of these policies has stimulated consumer demand and promoted business expansion, creating momentum for economic growth, thereby increasing revenue for the budget. |
Mr. Do Truong Tam, Deputy Director of Hiep Phu Forestry Company Limited, specializing in the production and trading of seedlings in Hoa Hiep Trung Ward (Dong Hoa Town), said: The tax payment extension according to Decree 64/2024/ND-CP has helped the company have more financial resources to reinvest in production and business activities. Not only in 2024, in previous years, the Government's tax reduction and extension policies have also been very helpful for businesses, especially during the period affected by epidemics and natural disasters.
In addition to extending tax and land rent payments, the Government also issued tax reduction policies to support businesses. Specifically, according to Decree 94/2023/ND-CP dated December 28, 2023 and Decree 72/2024/ND-CP dated June 30, 2024, the value-added tax rate will be reduced from 10% to 8% for many goods and services in 2024. This helps reduce input costs and stimulate consumption, creating favorable conditions for businesses to recover after a difficult period.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Minh, Director of Minh Tam Furniture Trading Company Limited (Hoa Tri Commune, Phu Hoa District) said: The reduction of value added tax has helped us reduce product prices, thereby attracting more customers and increasing sales. This is truly a practical support for small production facilities like us.
According to statistics from the Phu Yen Tax Department, in 2024, the total amount of tax and land rent that people and businesses in the province will be exempted, reduced, or extended is about 970 billion VND. This will not only help reduce financial pressure but also create conditions for businesses and business households in the province to stabilize and develop production and business, especially in the context of many economic difficulties.

Tax industry continues to accompany
In order to effectively implement support policies, Phu Yen Tax Department has proactively guided businesses and business households to carry out procedures for tax extension, exemption and reduction quickly and conveniently.
Mr. Cong Van Lanh, Deputy Director in charge of Phu Yen Tax Department, said: We have deployed many support channels, from direct consultation, by phone to guidance via the Phu Yen Tax Department's website, Zalo, Facebook, Youtube. The goal is to help businesses and business households access policies in the most convenient way. In addition, the tax authority also strengthens dialogue with businesses to promptly remove difficulties, ensuring that support policies are implemented to the right subjects and effectively.
Tax reduction, deferral and extension policies not only help businesses and business households in Phu Yen overcome difficulties but also play an important role in stimulating the local economy. When businesses and business households have the conditions to recover, they will continue to invest, expand production and create more jobs, contributing to promoting the economic growth of the province. The biggest wish of the business community is that tax support policies can be extended or expanded in scope so that they have enough time to fully recover after the difficult period.
Responding to the expectations of people and businesses, in 2025, the Government continued to extend the policy of reducing value added tax by 2%, lasting until the end of June 2025. Environmental protection tax on gasoline, oil, and grease will also continue to be reduced until the end of 2025, instead of applying the ceiling rate in the tax bracket from the beginning of this year.
“This year, in the context of economic difficulties, the National Assembly and the Government continue to issue policies to support, exempt, reduce, and extend tax and land rent payments for businesses and business households to help them recover and develop production and business soon. Immediately after the tax support policies were issued, the Tax Department coordinated with press agencies to widely inform people and businesses to know and implement,” said Mr. Cong Van Lanh.
The policy of tax reduction, extension and deferral is an important solution to help businesses and business households overcome difficulties, maintain operations and gradually recover. With the support of tax authorities and proactive adaptation of units, we can expect a more sustainable growth period in the coming time.
