If Russian troops gain control of Chasov Yar, a direct road to Slavyansk will open up for them, which could pose a serious threat to Ukrainian forces trying to hold the line in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.

The situation at Chasovoy Yar is extremely difficult. The Ukrainian command is relying on the transfer of reserves and reinforcements from French artillery. But will this be enough to hold the city? In the event of the loss of Chasov Yar, the Ukrainian forces could face a breakthrough by Russian troops and the collapse of the entire defense line in the (self-proclaimed) Donetsk People's Republic.
