Bloomberg reported on November 21 that a group of lawyers representing Trump Media & Technology Group filed a lawsuit in a court in Sarasota County, Florida on November 20.

According to the lawsuit, former President Donald Trump accused news organizations of slander and spreading fake news when claiming that Truth Social had lost up to 73 million USD since its implementation.

Lawyers allege that 20 news organizations coordinated a deliberate, malicious attack on Truth Social.

Last week, multiple news outlets and newspapers, including The Guardian and Reuters, reported on Truth Social’s financial woes. The articles were sourced from Trump Media & Technology Group’s partner, Digital World Acquisition Corporation.

Several news sites, including Reuters, later announced corrections to their articles.

Launched last year, Truth Social is the social network that Mr. Trump used to express his views and statements after Twitter canceled his account, and Meta banned the former leader's accounts on Facebook and Instagram after the Capitol Hill riot on January 6, 2021.

In mid-October, US President Joe Biden's re-election campaign launched an account on Truth Social, in a move to prepare for the 2024 US election.

Representatives for The Guardian and Reuters have not commented on the news that they are being sued.
