Foden was the hero for Man City in the first leg of the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid. The Englishman scored a superb goal from outside the box to help Man City equalize 2-2.
Before Man City equalized 2-2 thanks to Foden, the English representative had a very difficult game, even continuously giving the opponent opportunities to score, luckily not conceding another goal.
After Foden's goal, Man City played with excitement and took a 3-2 lead thanks to Josko Gvardiol in the 71st minute. However, a few minutes later, Federico Valverde equalized 3-3 for Los Blancos. This was also the final result of the match.
Despite scoring for Man City, Foden was forced off in the 87th minute after colliding with Eduardo Camavinga. Speaking to the media after the match, Foden said: “I hope it’s not a serious injury. I need a little time to recover and hopefully I can come back soon.”
Meanwhile, when asked about Foden's injury, coach Pep Guardiola said: "It was just a collision. He was grumpy with me for making the substitution."
With a 3-3 draw, Man City has a big advantage in winning a ticket to the semi-finals when playing the second leg at home. The rematch between Man City and Real Madrid takes place on April 18.
